you're right, it is a good idea to wash crockery in hot water and leave it standing, I just tried it. Thanks very much, I'll mention it to the tea-towel cleanliness obsessed flatmate

After doing a health and safety course, I had the horrors of tea-towels drummed into me, I'll never use one again...Mind you, I'll probably never eat again...

Thirty years ago my mother caught hepatitis in England where it is a notifiable disease. The medical officer of health (that should probably be a capitalised title : MOH) came round to give instructions. Mum was too ill to actually toss her head when he came out with the bit about rinsing in boiling water and leaving to drain, as that is what I had always done for which she had always called me a slut. I haven't _owned_ a tea towel for fifteen years ()
