When I say Brush....
I met Rick Parfitt of Status Quo in a music shop in London's Denmark Street. We chatted for about 10 minutes and at the end of it, I ended up giving him a ticket to an up coming gig of mine. He never showed - can't understand why, after all, the gig was only in the North of Scotland!
I played "Twist and Shout" at the world's largest guitar jam (I have the certificate at home) with the Swining Blue Jeans - for a whole hour. (I didn't get to meet any of the band).
I sat next to Geoffrey Palmer on a train from Andover to London one time (He of Butterflies and Reginald Perrin fame - amongst others.) The two little old dears across from me were nudging each other and pointing, while the chap's head was burried in his newspaper, but the pair of them gazed out of the window barely looking at him at all when he put it down. Once again I didn't speak to him.
My old next door neighbour used to be great mates with the lady that went on to marry Don Airey the keyboard player (Rainbow, Ten, Company of Snakes, Deep Purple (I think), Ozzy Osbourne) the list goes on. I ended up seeing him play at the Half Time Orange in Leicester. Being quite an informal gig I decided to wander up and thank him for the signed CD that my next door neighbour had managed to scrounge for me, after the band had finished playing. I introduced myself and thanked him - the way you do and he went into the "Oh yes, I remember signing that" sort of speach. Just imagine Mr Bean doing an impression of John Major - that's EXACTLY how he sounded. I made my excuses to leave and did so.... quickly. All my illusions shattered.
I got pushed past by Reginald Bosenquet on the steps of the Beeb, while doing my first H2G2 treasure hunt - once again we didn't speak.
I sang into Fish's microphone at a gig one time. (Ex Marillion front man).
I've shared a plane with Eddie Izzard and another with Jimmy Nail (who looked like he'd been dragged through a hedge every way - several times).
That's about it. None of it very inspiring - other than Rick Parfitt, he was very That's surprising really - considering he's not a Bass player
