President Clinton that is.
About four years ago he was on holiday with Hilary and went to visit Portobello market on a Friday morning, accompanied by a load of bodyguards. It was just like the West Wing.
I used to work in an office nearby and we got a call to say he was around. I ran down the road to get there and then gathered with about ten people who he was saying hello to.
He put out his hand and then I realised I probably had to say something to him. I must admit my mind went a blank. And then it came to me, 'Welcome, Mr President, welcome'.
I'd come over all ambassadorial or something. It was strange. I was an idiot.
He just said 'Thank you very much, held eye contact for about 10th of a second and moved onto the next handshake (probably the 6 millionth handshake he'd given in his life.)
