I'd like to recomend this article for inclusion in the edited guide. I think it's a pretty good description of the city.
The only thing that I might add is that there are at least twenty roads that include Peachtree in their name in Atlanta. In addition to Peachtree Road, Avenue, Circle, etc., there's also Peachtree Memorial Drive, Peachtree Indusdrial Boulevard, Peachtree Valley Road, West Peachtree Street, and the list goes on.
Curiously enough, I don't ever recall seeing a peachtrree in Atlanta, but that's another issue.
Unfortunatly, the author has been missing for some time. I still think this is good article.

It's a lovely entry - as far as it goes. A few words on favourite places to hang out perhaps?
As the original author is missing, presumed fed - would you be willing to continue, make a copy and insert pieces etc?

Hmmm.... I have to say that I think it needs more flesh. Frankly, I've only been to Atlanta once (for 3 days) and there was nothing in the entry I didn't know already.
Plus, this may be a personal bias, but I don't know that any entry on Atlanta can be complete without blurbs on 1) The Coca-Cola museum with the unlimited free samples, and 2) The Center for Disease Control (CDC). (The historical connection between Coca-Cola and the CDC is something I've always found amusing....)
It would also be really helpful to make first-time visitors aware of the fact that Atlanta still has a great deal of de-facto segregation - we weren't aware of that, and made some rather large booboos on our visit.
Oh, and maybe a brief bit on the public transportation system?
I'm not saying it needs to be a really long entry - it could either be lengthened, *or* it could have it's priorities rearranged. Right now, the longest bit is about an annoying road. For the average visitor coming to town, there are tons of more important things to know.

I'm not even aware of the connection between Coke and the CDC. I did visit the museum a few years back when my Dad was visiting. I didn't think much of it. I enjoyed all the old advertising stuff, but aside from that, I didn't get much out of it.

That really big Coca Cola millionaire guy (you know, the one whose name is on half the buildings in town, and almost all the ones at Emory?) was one of the people who first really pushed the US government for the development of the CDC. He was also apparently single-handedly responsible for it being located in Atlanta -- I think he may have donated the land. He was apparently really interested in public health -- he paid for pretty much everything in Emory's Public Health graduate school.

Hi Two Bit - any progress on this?
Having read it I don't think it has the necessary detail to become an edited guide entry yet. There needs to be a bit of history, places to stay, good places to go out, get drunk, get food etc. and a bit of a tourists guide to things to see.
Hope you're still working on this.

It's on my list of things to do. My intent is to make it a collabarotive effort for the South East US Researcher's Group. I have one and half other projects I need to finish first before I can try that though.

Hi, can I suggest a move to the brand spanking new Collaborative writing Workshop then?
This can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Writing-Beginners
(guess what the page used to be from the URL )

Did you see the episdoe of Futurama where they found the sunken city of Atlanta?
The worthies of Atlanta had it moved into the middle of the Atlantic to increase tourism but it got too heavy and sank.
Thought it was quite funny.

Just let me know if you need any information on this one while "fleshing it out"...I've been a resident for over 15 years and pretty much grew up in Terminus...er uh I mean "Atlanta"...

I'm thinking about doing it right after I get back from DragonCon. Right now doing the DragonCon Meet is my big project.

Hmmm... well, here it is, several weeks later, and it's still languishing in Peer Review. What's the word, Two-Bit? I know you're probably pretty busy right now; should we go ahead and move it?

Go ahead, move it wherever, I'm sort of bogged down in sub-editing.

That nice chap's name was "Candler" and the Callenwalde Fine Arts Center is his former home... Indeed any Atlanta entry should include something about Coke and also something about Turner.... the "peachtree" dilemma is a strange one...no there aren't any peachtrees in Atlanta, and from what I've heard that comes from the misunderstanding of the word "pitchtree" one that provides sap for pitch, which our plethora of pines do well...
Also a mention that Atlanta's Hartsfield airport is the busiest hub in the country, and I believe in the world, wouldn't be a bad idea...
maybe I'll contribute some text at some point, but I'm in no mood to do it now, as we actually have snow here now, quite a freakish occurance.......

We've just been out enjoying the snow.
I hadn't heard that about the pitch tree thing. I have yet to see a peach tree in the state. Could it be some sort of forgotten antebellum gag?

I've finally started working on the Atlanta article. It's now at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A677072.
It's mostly the old article by The Unfortunate American Girl. I've added a bit about the public transportation system for Mickey. I'll keep working on it if people will send stuff in.
Be advised, if you post something here, I'll plagiarize it and put your name in the writers' list.
Of course, this really just away to postpone my Radar article.

I've done a fair bit of work on it in the last couple of days. I could really use some input.

Looking really good - it's ready to go as is, apart from a few minor typo corrections.
• The one most definitive trademark of Atlanta though, has to be its road system
I would take out the comma in this sentence.
• Grady has premiere trauma centre.
Sounds a bit odd. You might be better off saying 'Grady has an excellent trauma center.'
• Buckhead was originally the in the sticks.
Of course, you've got an extra 'the' in there.
I'll quit here - don't want that RADAR article to be neglected...
