Hello BBC folk,
Please consider me for the role of volunteer sub-editor. I'm a member of the NUJ and work full-time as a business writer. That's the day job. I've been trying to diversify of late, with some modest success. I have been sub-editing a new Asian food/culture quarterly in my spare time. I've also had a few short book reviews accepted by the Press Association. My first love was literature and philosophy. My interests and experiences are wide. I love writing. But if anything I'm better at polishing the writing of others. Doing so excites me, inordinately.
I hope that I can contribute in some way to this wonderful cyber-venture.
Warm regards,
Michael (aka mercyseat)

Hello and thanks for your enthusiasm.
I notice that you're very very new to the site, welcome . Because of this it is probably a good idea to get to know the site a bit before you take on any voluntary position. With this role it would be a very good idea to snoop around in PeerReview and see what sort of entries go through there, what people say about them and comment on some yourself. It's these entries that you will be getting if you later become a sub-editor here.
In the meantime do you have any questions about H2G2 in general, or PeerReview or any of the volunteers?
Kat

No I'm not actually, but only because I've never really listened. What I know of him, I think I'd probably become a fan. There's just so many bands on my must-play list right now. I'll lift Nick Cave nearer the top.
The something-something-Mercyseat was the name of a hospital in an early Samuel Beckett novel. That word just popped into my head. What's the Cave connection?

He wrote a song called Mercyseat - which was why I asked if you are a fan!
