I don't claim to be the most eloquent of writers, but I do have a good understanding of English literature and I would love to be a part of the Sub Editors team.

Hello The_Xand, and thanks for volunteering.
We tend to only recruit people who have already participated in the Edited Guide, by writing entries or commenting in Peer Review. But it's always good to welcome people from other parts of the site, and we know of your work with the Buffy fans - perhaps you guys can have a go at updating our entry on Buffy, which is horribly out of date?
But before that, we always set our Subs a subbing test. It's mainly just to see how strong a prospective's editing is, and to identify any little areas that might need help. Later on today, I'll be sending out the tests, and I'm pleased to say, you'll be receiving one of them, so the very best of luck.

Thank you for the opportunity.
I'll have a look at the Buffy guides and see what I am able to do.

Hi Jim,
I noticed by reading some of the other applications that you are sending details of the next phase via email. This created a problem for me as the email I used to register no longer exists.
I have updated my details now and the email is now current, so if you could please resend the details for me I would appreciate it.
Thank you

I managed to retrieve the email you sent to my old email address.
I have completed the test and sent it to you.

P.S. Thanks again for the chance.

I also took a look at the edited guide entry for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You're right about it being tragically outdated. I'm sure that I can come up with a more up-to-date version.
I already have a number of self written articles that I can use, just give me a week or two.

Hi Jim,
I just got your email. Oh well, better luck naxt time hey!
As I mentioned, I'll see what I can do with the Buffy guides, I already have something written down, I just need to edit it for H2 as some of it is written in the first person, to give it the personal touch.
Thanks again for giving me the chance,
The_Xand

And thanks again for applying. All the test is for is to see whether practice would be better done 'on the job' or whether we should start prospective volunteers out in the field, so don't worry too much about that
Have to say, one of the hopes we had for accepting responsibility for Cult's old Buffy group was that we might get a revised Buffy entry, so if you can do that, that will be absolutely fantastic!
