Mikey the Humming Mouse - A3938628 Learn More About the Edited Guide! Posted May 23, 2006
Hi there!
I don't believe they are recruiting for new subs just at the moment -- but when they do, preference is generally given to people who've spent some time finding out how the site works, getting involved in Peer Review and the Edited Guide, etc.
Do you have any questions about h2g2?

How long does it normally take for an entry to appear on the front page?
. . . .
An entry starts with an idea, a topic you know lots about. Then you write it down, make it a coherent story.
Then you can submit it to the appropriate review forum, where other Researchers can and will comment on it. When it is found suitable for the Guide it can be picked.
A Sub-Editor takes the entry and after reading, correcting splelling, style and some minor details it goes to the Editors.
When they agree with the end result they wait for matching entries and perhaps a Blob. Then finally the Entry gets a day on the < <./>FrontPage</.> > is included in the Categorisation and gets labelled 'Edited Entry'.
It takes as long as needed sometimes each step requires a year, sometimes the Entry is on the frontpage in a Danda (42 days). "
