Frikadeller
Created | Updated Dec 13, 2012
The frikadelle, the plural of which is frikadeller, is a meatball comprising minced pork, eggs, flour, salt, pepper, milk and onions. The ingredients are mixed in a bowl, scooped into teaspoon-sized balls, and then fried. The balls are commonly served with boiled potatoes and gravy.
Frikadeller originated in the southern part of Jutland in Denmark, but from here they have spread to Norway, Sweden and the northern part of Germany. They even have frikadeller in America, although for some reason they are known there as Swedish meatballs.
