Entry: Lubbock , Texas, USA - A3945602
Author: wynneth - U1507537
It's not much, but it would get a listing for my city.

Right now this entry is too short to make its way into the edited guide and could do with some serious expansion. Here is an example of an entry on another town in Texas: A273575
I hope that you're willing to put the work in on this one.

I think this is remarkably apposite, considering that the entry for Earth in Adams' original guide was only two words long.

Not again?
What, do you mean Lubbock, Texas, or my rather flippant response?
Or are you just impersonating the last thoughts of a bowl of unfortunate petunias?

A little from column A, and a little from column B.
It's just that there's times there are entries submited to Peer Review that aren't suitable or need drastic improvement (like this one), when someone comes along and says that it's a good piece. This can be very confusing for the writer and very frustrating for people trying to get them to improve it.

Apologies. I am quite new here, and I was just trying to be amusing.
I will choose my comments with a little more care in future with regards to the comments you have just brought up.
Sorry!

Nah, it can just be a little annoying is all. It once happened to me on an entry about religious beliefs mentioned in 'Salmon of Doubt', and I had to spend hours telling him that the entry wasn't suitable. He seemed to think that I didn't agree with his interpretation of religion and that I wanted him to remove it because I found it offensive.

You forgot the tumbleweeds... and Buddy Holly...

Actually I did not really plan that it would directly make it into the guide. I was more looking for any input related to it, and the tumbleweed/buddy holly comment was exactly what I mean. I've only lived here a few years and so it is a bit, well, tricky to pin down. I will make attempts to slowly bring it up, frankly (I don't know that it isn't, I just got my account here) I wish there were a 'collaborative entry' option. Thanks for the input, keep it up.

There is a collaborative entry option here --> Writing-Collaborative
If you fancy putting this piece into their then firstly you'll need to take it out of Peer Review. You do that be finding your entry in this list here - PeerReview - and clicking the little 'x' that is on the right.
I should say at this point that the Collaborative area is a bit slow. You won't get that much traffic with people posting comments. This maybe doubly so in this entry's case because it is specific to one town, and the only folk who can meaningfully contribute are those that know the town.
Don't let that put you off. You've put something into the guide, so you've made a positive start

Thanks and grrr. I had just added another two paragraphs or so to the entry when the pc I am using keeled over. I think I will stick with here, and as I add a bit I will see what everyone thinks. Be warned, I'm going to throw in my editing ideas, sidenotes, etc. as I do. Oh and just so I get those pains of empathy from you all - I have a perfectly capable computer that will do anything as of yet put to it - but no physical line to the outside world from it, and I am forced to use the highly irrational and highly unreliable pc of a relative.

How spooky
I just watched my favourite Quincy episode (no sniggering at the back please) - 'The Thigh Bone is Connected to the Knee Bone'
They reconstruct the body of a footballer from a femur dug up in college grounds.
He came from Lubbock Texas.

Wasn't there a film called 'Lubbock, Texas'? Or a song? Or some other pop culture reference?

wynneth Posted May 1, 2005
Not that I know of. Now there is a song called "Llano Estacado" and a movie about Happy, Texas (which is not far from here), and of course Friday Night Lights is about Odessa, Texas (which is where I grew up).

Life in Lubbock, Texas, taught me two things: One is that God loves you and you're going to burn in hell. The other is that sex is the most awful, filthy thing on earth and you should save it for someone you love.

>>Ok so somebody needs to chime in on how I'm doing now!<<
OK, two quick things in your entry.
1) You can't have pictures. If your entry gets editors choice then a special picture will be made for it, but you're not allowed put pictures in yourself.
2) Smileys aren't allowed either.
