What? No mention of the WTO dispute between US & EU over subsidies for Bananas from former colonies? I think it could be a very interesting addendum (i.e. when is a Banana a European Banana, despite being picked several thousand miles away)?

The USA and the WTO are enought to send anyone bananas, especially the way they have been dudding us in recent times. Thoroughly enjoyed this article, and the recipes, but do feel that AUSTRALIA deserves a mention as a major banana growing country, PLUS we have the biggest banana in the world. True! (At a place called called Coff's Harbour, on the mid to north coast of New South Wales). We also have the world's biggest pineapple but I guess this is not the time or the place etc ......

Australia, huh? Are you sure you weren't hallucinating about this "giant banana?" Is it still on the tree, or is it all brown and squishy now? Australia's one of those neat countries that has almost every geographical example - swamp, desert, mountains, and plains. I didn't know it had jungles, too!
American news is oddly geocentric. A riot in Uganda might get two minutes time on prime-time news, but the firefighters bringing toys to the kids will get eight minutes. I don't understand it. Fortunately, the public television station will show ITN News at midnight, so I have a chance of hearing some real news.
This all boils down to the fact that I had no idea there was an issue with bananas and the World Trade Organization. Fill me in if you remember the details.
World's biggest pineapple... Mmmm, nightmares!
