To be honest I think this needs some more detail. Cricket whether you like it or not is a game where statistics mean something and this could do with Sobers cricket stats for a start and also that Rest of the World series could probably do with just a slight bit of background information like the reason for Australia playing the likes of Sobers and the two ageing Pollacks in the one team.
The score that Sobers made at the MCG over an afternoon and a morning session needs to be mentioned too.
Also the greatest batsman of all time was there at that Test and if you search about you will come across his comments on that remarkable innings(I was there and it remains the best batting exhibition I've ever seen). Without checking I'll take a guess at 254, I think he was 187 at stumps and he had that huge intimidating crowd at the 'Gee' entranced, such was the fluidity of his wrists.
Mention also could be made of his tour to Australia in 60/61 and his century in the Firt Test rated as the best seen by many people at that time and also that Test is its self called by some the greatest ever played(famous tied Test).
I'd prefer to see his full name used as well on the Entry heading.
The anecdotes you use are good but for mine I'd like to see them in conjunction with some stats and a bit more info about this truly great sportsperson

I agree about the need for stats; I just wasn't sure it'd be welcome in a forum for more a more general level of readership.

I don't think you can actually overload a piece about a cricketer if your using statistics.
Cricket *is* a game of numbers, of statistics, of averages, you need them in something like this just for comparison alone.
If your concerned for the non-cricket following persons ability to read this then you might need to explain just what an all-rounder is and as this is a predominately English site then compare him to Botham or Flintoff.
Averages and statistics of course only tell part of the story but its a crucial part.
One more thing I'm wondering is your title for the piece "The Greatest".
If you have your heading thus: 'The Greatest Allround Cricketer' or words to that effect then your telling the right story just as Bradman is the Greatest batsmen or S.K.Warne the greatest Leg spin Bowler etc.
As it stands at the moment, if you don't follow cricket then you wont know who G.Sobers is.

So, each uni. project entry has to be deemed worthy to be called an Entry, yes?
And that can only be done here at Peer Review, yes?
Forgive me for seeming thick but I'm getting horribly confused and starting to (dare I say it?) PANIC!

Okay, mine has gone into the faculty for Arts and Entertainment A21569682
If you scroll down, you will see only one has been completed so far.
When all of them are completed, Galaxy Babe will sub-edit them, and put them ALL into PR for a final tweaking before they will be cleared and await approval from the Editors for the Front Page.
Your Project will be in the Sports faculty.
I hope this helps you
lil xx

Suggestions for this Entry?
Choices: Back to Entry / Flea Market / Pickable (IMHO it needs work, too much for a sub-ed, unless it was a labour of love)
