I have an article in Peer Review and Gnoman has a long list of corrections.
I make the first correction, I make the second correction, I press update. So far so good.
I try to do another edit, making the fourth , fifth, and sixth correction. I press update
the field loses the first set of corrections and makes the second set.
I decide maybe it has a cache that would be updated if I sign out.
so I sign out and then back in.
This time when I press edit I get "You must first sign in"
so I sign in again. It takes me to my home page.
I scroll down to edit and when I press the edit button I am once again in the loop saying You must first sign in to edit.
I sign off for the night and go to bed.
Next day I check article. None of the editing has been applied.

Can we assume you haven't done anything as obviously silly as opening multiple windows and doing different edits in each? Did you actually check when restarting the edit that the previous changes were in the page, ie that you hadn't been served an earlier cached version? Otherwise, could it be multiple servers getting out of sync at the BBC's end (as sometimes happens on other issues).

Next I go to edit to redo the changes and it shows they have already been done.
I press update and presto both sets of chages are donesmiley - weird

It was the same window, and it did look like it was going back to some cache. The article as I had changed it must have been in some cache over night because when I went to edit this morning the old version was there but the new version was in the editing screen.

Traveller in Time Reporting Bugs -o-o- Broken the chain of Pliny -o-o- Hired

Traveller in Time smiley - tit just seen an advice to a newbee
"First copy your text to a notepad file, make the changes, save it local.

Copy the file an dchange the extention to html, drag the file into a browser, check what you see. If any more changes required make them in the text version until you are happy.
Open the Entry Edit page and paste the lot press save.

Open the page with A1234567&new (the ampersand and the 'new' are bogus to fool your provider). The changes will have been made smiley - magic. "

Travelor in Time 'just seen advice to a newbe'
I hope I'm not being placed in that category. I have been doing h2g2 articles since before the BBC took over.

"Was just a jest, though it was a recent advice I read as well.

Are you connecting from abroad ? we have had recently some Researchers with problems as local proxies only showed them < F94020?thread=3742453 >

I just posted about this very same problem about an hour ago on hub feedback.

And Jim, I'm posting from the US. I think Shagbark is, too.

Traveller in Time smiley - tit making little changes to older page
"Well I did yesterday, they still are there.

Does it help to add the bogus '& new' to the a number ? If it does, you are most likely cached somewhere on the line.

The last link I gave includes (a link to) a form by Jim Lynn to 'test' your connection. "

Have you been using IE v.7 shagbark? I had a similar problem with that, but got around it be ensuring I refreshed my edit page each time I went back into it as IE seems to have a habit of storing the cache inappropriately. I don't know how to fix it properly smiley - sadface

I know that wasn't my problem, I'm on a computer at work and we're not allowed to install or upgrade software, and I know specifically we don't have IE 7.
