Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation May 30, 2005
The tinkering that Jim Lynn did with the site earlier this year to make it more visible to Google has worked wonders. But now we have another problem. Google is indexing all the "pda" pages, and returning them as results in a Google search. This means that somebody on a PC searching for "irish neolithic tombs" (for example) gets back h2g2 as the first hit in Google, but it is to the PDA version of the page. I don't think this would encourage anybody to explore the site.
Can we modify the system so that the pda-format pages are not indexed by Google?

I get the regular old hootoo page first, for some entries -- including the irish neolithic tombs, although I see the pda version if I scroll down. For other entries, I see the pda page first.
