A Conversation for The Bull Outhouse

Sure you can, Litchick!
You can see several conversations going if you go to the Outhouse, or if you click my nickname and then scroll right down the page that comes up, you'll see the complete members' list - click on a name and you'll end up on their own page where you can chat to them there. Your name is on there too now.
Enjoy!
Katy

Dusty! QB! newMissTee! Litchick! Glad you could all make it!
Dusty, h2g2 is a bit different from Mustardland. It's built around the concept of "Articles", with most of the chat threads attached to them. The Personal Spaces are incidental...
The "core" of h2g2 is the concept of writing articles and searching through them for info. The "Search" function has *got* to be one of the worst on the internet, but the stuff that's in there is worth the effort. You can get an idea of what's there by looking at <./>RandomEditedEntry</.>...
We're not really using it for what it was designed for.

Hi Peet (+ everyone),
Please forgive the ignoramus, but I'm not quite up for reading the endless threads going on in ML, but what is this "friends list" for?
I'm quite happy wandering about in h2g2, reading bits and pieces and wondering whether to write an article or not, but I'm a little confused about why the friends list is needed. Is it so that when ML moves to the DNA format it makes it easier to transfer my new ID, or have I missed the point entirely?
Cheers, L

Loopy-L, the friends list was intended to help you keep track of... er... friends who were irregular visitors to the site. When anyone on your friends list makes a posting, the thread appears in your "My Conversations" ( ) page so you know they've been around.
KatyTulip has set up a spare account where she's putting all the Mustardlanders on as "Friends"; if you need to see what Mustardlanders have been posting lately just head over to U1485019 rather than using your own friends list.

Ah, of course, that makes sense!
As you say, I'm sure we are not using this forum the way we arre supposed to, but it's certainly a useful way to learn your way about.
Therefore, if I want to know who when conversations are happing, I can just keep "Mustardland_mustering_station" personal space open, and then you can see who is talking to people, as the conversation comes up - is that right? I'm guessing the same would happen if I added everyone to my own friends list (except I haven't got any friends, sniff...)
I must admit it will probably take some getting used to, but I quite like the system, its v. similar to another messageboard (non-bbc) that I wander about sometimes.
Cheers L

It's an upturned face, and two hands holding the stomach, as Mr Smiley rolls back laughing. Or something,

This place is just like Starbucks. Squillions of choices, but I only ever want or need a black coffee.
This is quite a handy space. At least we'll know where we all are. Which is all I want really. Dx

I left you a message somewhere else in here too. I don't know what's going on, or why I need to do this, or how to have a discussion...
Anyway, can I join too? (Look what happens when I go on holiday!!)
* rolls eyes *
Do we get smileys provided here? I saw some reference to them elsewhere...
* looks hopeful *

If you check the main "Outhouse" page (link at the top of the thread) you'll find I've tacked on a couple of annexes for those who have figured out what they're doing, and just want to socialise. Both have got an all-day licence and automatic lockins after midnight...

Hi Cubes! Haven't seen you around for ages. How are you, now? Finally recovered from all the nasties of last summer I hope.
I was Alter Ego last time we "spoke" I think. Or possibly even Betty Backhall, but I'm sticking with this incarnation now.

Also - I keep trying to post a message on Alex's thingy (open your emails Alex!!!! Failing that, I'm texting you) but it keeps saying I'm an unknown hitch hiker (kincheek). Is it me, or Alex? Dx
