I would like to point out that, although Trixibelle Flagherty is an h2g2 creation and I am her creator, I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, ESPONSIBLE FOR HER ACTIONS.
Thank you

Thanks for joining up, Trixibelle. We've added you to the supporters page and we'll try to find something fun in the campaign for you to do?

A special Announcement
Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Aug 8, 2000
Just wanted you to be aware that there's a report in this week's H2G2 Post that makes some horrible accusations against one of our campaign staff, Redbeard. Please hold off on any judgments you might make. The report, supposedly written by a reporter, was in fact written by a campaign staff member of an opposition party. The Celery is conducting his own investigation and will be making a statement in next week's Post. So stay tuned.

It's Movie Time!
Redbeard (Thanks to all who supported The Celery!)) Posted Aug 9, 2000
Hey everyone! There are some fun things happening! The opposition candidates have ganged up and created a movie portraying the death of The Celery and Webjello. It's not a great movie, but fairly entertaining, so come over to the Dinner thread at http://www.h2g2.com/F49946?thread=68145&post=519801 and join in the fun. Popcorn, funnel cakes, and cotton candy are being served! Also, they have created a mock funeral at http://www.h2g2.com/F40374?thread=69810 Dolores will be there (we're hoping they'll let her deliver her own eulogy :-)) so stop by there as well, join in, and we'll have a funeral party.

It appears the movie has shifted to a screening of Neil Simon's 'Murder by Death' and the funeral has changed to a picnic in the park.
Sorry about the earlier post. Things shift fast here
Once everyone realized that a candidate cannot be forceably removed, the plot for the original movie kind of sputtered.
So, back to business as usual. Thank you all for your support!

Thanks, Dragonfly!
Yes. 9 days! It's getting exciting!
I understand that The Celery is preparing a special report for next week's post which may clear up the issue presented last week in which I was charged with poisoning DD. We'll post the URL here when it is published.

Lintilla Posted Aug 15, 2000
After suffering, personally, from an unavoidable h2g2 seperation, it has become painfully obvious to me how important it is to have a president that will NEVER be placed into the same situation. We can not afford to have a president gone due to a server malfunction or RL emergency. Although I have found other candidates very qualified for the job, they are still unable to give the 100 percent effort, night and day, that this community needs. What better entity to lead the h2g2 community than an h2g2 creation? Therefore, due to the need of a solid h2g2 presence in the presidental office, I henceforth endorse the Celery, and D. Webjello as political candidates and support them fully. Please inform me of any way in which I can futher their campain sucess in the future.
Respectfully,
Lintilla

It means so much to us to hear that from you, Lintilla! What a wonderful endorsement!
We have added you to the list of supporters at http://www.h2g2.com/A385698 and I see you've already added a graphic to your page -- tremendous!
As far as what you and others can do for the campaign -- there is a lot! We are now less than one week away from the beginning of voting, which will last for close to a month.
In the end, it won't be the people who have been fighting in the trenches during the campaign who will decide the issue, but rather the individual researchers, many of whom may not have paid much attention to the politics.
So here are some things you can do (and this goes for all supporters):
1. Talk to your friends about The Celery. Make sure they know that The Celery and Dolores are unique because they are h2g2 creations -- and truly the best candidates for the job. Mention their commitment to all creatures -- and that they put on one heck of a party!
2. Once voting starts, mention in conversation that you've voted - that you've had fun participating in this process of picking a Virtual Prez. This can naturally open the dialogue about who's best for the job.
3. Don't spam or promote the campaign to newcomers. The Powers have been very clear about this. It's important that newcomers are given the assistance to become part of the community without getting hit with campaign stuff. If they bring it up, or ask what you've been up to, then use your judgement -- they are certainly welcome to participate, but shouldn't be actively recruited.
4. Avoid speaking ill of the other candidates. They're a good bunch of researchers, even if they don't have what's needed for the job. Lighthearted sarcasm is perfectly acceptable as long as it's done with good manners
5. I'm guessing that a large number of researchers will go to vote without knowing all the candidates. They may try to make their decision just by looking at the main Prez Race page at
http://www.h2g2.com/A373907
They may look at the long list of candidates and feel it's too much work to check out all the campaign pages, so consider adding an endorsement for The Celery and Dolores Webjello on that page. They'll be much more interested in reading the views of researchers that are not part of the campaign staff of a candidate. (a statement like Lintilla's could be quite effective there)
Thanks again to all of you for your support. The Celery has often commented on how grateful he is to have all of you helping him in this challenging race. He knows that if he wins, it will be because of you!
In one week, the true test begins.

Sign me up!! I won't have a whole lot of time, we've just begun installing the treetop billiards room at the Celestial Lounge, but I'd be glad to do anything that I can.
( well, to be perfectly honest, Ubik, (my new albino jackelope) has been pushing me towards this campaign. She says that The Celery cares about creatures and she's afraid her voice won't be heard.)

Thanks, Valis! Don't worry about spending a lot of time on it. Any and all help is appreciated!
We've added both you and Ubik to the supporters page -- we have a whole section for h2g2 creatures who support Celery/Webjello. You can bet that their voices will be heard with The Celery as Virtual Prez.
Good luck with the Celestial Lounge. Let me know when it's open and I'll add it to the Quick Reference Guide. http://www.h2g2.com/A344756
Thanks again!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~ INVITATION TO VOTE ~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To all our wonderful supporters!
The time has come at last. Voting is well under way for the h2g2 Virtual Prez race! It has been an exciting and often challenging race, but now it's time for the voters to speak.
The Polling Booth is at http://www.h2g2.com/A374997 -- click on 'The Celery and Ms Dolores A.Webjello' on that page and a blank email should pop up with 'The Celery' in the subject line. Add your h2g2 user name and id number in the body and hit send. That's all there is to it. We also have prepared an easy voting page for you at http://www.h2g2.com/A338500 (which includes instructions on how to vote if your web browser isn't configured for email).
Please do not vote more than once. Multiple votes may end up in all your votes being invalid. Also, if you have multiple identities at h2g2, vote only with one of them (usually your primary identity).
The Celery would like to thank you for all your support during this campaign. With your help he has already made a difference at h2g2: The Celery has raised the awareness of respect for h2g2 creations of various kinds; The Celery has created a wonderful Sanctuary and Playground for h2g2 fish; The Celery has shown that good manners counts; and The Celery and Dolores have shown that they can put on a heck of a party!
If elected, The Celery and Dolores Webjello will continue their efforts with: A regular column in the Post; The creation of a Prez House where everyone can stop by and chat with the Prez and express their concerns; The creation of a Strawberry Fields Park at the Municipal Park; and another amazing party -- this time celebrating the election results.
Again, thanks for all your support! Make your voice heard at the polling booth and tell your friends. If you have questions about the voting process, please ask us.
On a separate note: Don't forget to check out The Celery's special report in this week's Post: http://www.h2g2.com/A420373
