n.b. I though an American billion is a million million, whereas a British billion is a thousand million? That's why I made the distinction; hence 'billion' is a term best avoided as it's ambiguous!

BigAl, surely you are capable of muliplying 6.5 thousand million by 1.5 and can see that it does not equal 9.75 million million?

No, I realise it's 6000 million. Multiply that by 1500 (ml) and you get 9.75 x 10 to 12.
