I Loved A Piano Player
I loved a piano player.
But it was difficult to compete,
With something that demanded
A million hours a week.
The sounds produced were lovely,
Perfect major or in flat.
I can't compare to Mozart,
I was reserved right at the back.
Hear Chopin and Beethoven
Go flowing through the night,
While I was sat down reading
Getting regularly tight.
It's not that I much minded
I knew I hadn't got a chance.
When the girlfriend's time's divided
Well I never got a glance.
Too busy playing classics
Nocturnes, preludes, deathly fugues
She never even noticed
When I wandered in the nude.
So I left my piano player
It was for the best you see
'Cause while everyone admired her
They never noticed me.
Now of course she's happy
A romance has unfurled.
As player and piano
Take on the music world.
