Entry of the Month - June Voting
Created | Updated Sep 7, 2008
Coronation Street
With a clear majority in the vote, Distortion - The Physics of Heavy Metal won May's coveted badge. It was pleasing to see votes for seven other competitors, proving how strong the writing is across h2g2.
So here are my favourites from June. From showbiz to weather, from entertainment to farming, the Front Page has seen quite a range of topics over the past month. But don't take my word for it: browse the Unofficial Front Page Archive and if you find an Entry you like, please share it.
Mu Beta's Shortlist For June's Entry Of The Month
Volk's Electric Railway and Daddy Long-legs - an entertaining mechanical way to drown Victorian tourists, apparently.
The Hawthorn - sheer prickly poetry.
Fronts, Depression and Anti-cyclones - not about 1930s Germany, as I originally thought.
The Cleveland Indians 'Ten Cent Beer Night' of 1974 - because reading about drunken people is as much fun as watching them on Youtube.
The Fairey Rotodyne - Deke gets his chopper out.
What was the Name of Napoleon's Horse? - as if you needed any more reason to bicker with your pub quiz team.
A superb selection this month, but are there more out there? There are if you can find them!
Can I Vote?
Of course you can! Entry of The Month is all about popular opinion. So whether you're an old-hand in Peer Review or you just signed up yesterday, you are more than welcome to post your vote to the forum below.
IMPORTANT: Please only post once to the voting forum. Votes can then be quickly counted without having to double-check. Please do not try to vote anywhere else. You may vote for your own Entry if you wish. This system is reliant on your goodwill and honesty.
But I don't like any of your suggestions!
That's fine. My shortlist are just personal favourites. If you've seen something you like, please vote for that Entry instead. It would help if you could include an A-Number by way of a link.
All an Entry needs to qualify is to have been put on the Front Page
for the first time in the last month. Please check the date on the Entry you are nominating. It happens that old Entries are sometimes put back on the Front Page for a 'second spell'. The Entry Of The Month must be first published in the month in question.
