McKay The Disorganised

Opti - there is so much missing from this. His battle to overcome his speech impediment, he was a stutterer. His time as a war correspondant, is covered in a line. He and his wife had 5 children - not 4 - Marigold died and they had Mary.

He was an award winning author - his Histories of The English Speaking Peoples is a standard text.

His early army career in South Africa, in India, and in The Sudan are worthy of a seperate entry on their own.

His other political posts - President of The Board of Trade, First Lord of The Admiralty, (He was blamed for Gallipolli) and Chancellor of The Exchequer. His movement between the Liberals and The Conservatives. All these need expanding.

What about quotes ? "Never in the field of human conflict......" - "I have nothing to offer......." " We shall fight....."

The man is a colossus of English politics - and that needs to be covered in detail. Outside politics he led a varied and fascinating career as a journalist, orator, historian, and soldier.

I'd suggest he is worthy of 5 entries on his own.

Perhaps I should title it 'An Overview of Winston Churchill' then. smiley - smiley

That would do for me. I don't really need to read a minute report, if I wanted to do that, I'm sure there are books available.

However, there's something that's not clear to me you say:

>>Churchill even travelled to South Africa as a journalist during the Boer War, but was captured by the Boers. When Churchill was not on duty he acted as a war correspondent and wrote about his experiences in the war. <<

and a bit later you go on:

>>He eventually escaped and fled to Oldham,...<<

To me, this sounds as if he was on some duty (which one) during his captivity, which doesn't really make sense.

I've addressed your point B'El and some of the points mentioned by McKay. Currently questioning whether to expand on him being an author and his political posts. smiley - smiley
