let's see...
taking a long phrase that you use/think/see often(or that has some kind of hidden meaning to you)(i've occasionally used one from a phrase in a book that i particularly liked) and making your password the first letter of each word in the phrase or, a section of the phrase without spaces. difficult to guess and has the added bomus that you can probably recall it easily.
taking it from a hobby/interest, ex, for sports, maybe a player, for reading perhaps a charater/book tittle/reference/author's name, video games a high score, if you remember that sort of thing easily, math, a number that's interesting to you in some way(such as, is expressable as the sum of the cubes of two consecutive numbers, one of which is your birthday), etc. or even cmbining them, like, literary reference 42 mixed with mathmatical interest to make the password 42^3 or 74088.
the phone number/part of their email of someone you fancy(or used to). you're not likely to forget it...
you can sometimes remember things by writing/typing/saying them over and over, typing especially works because if you type something enough it becomes spinal(you don't have to think about it to do it. it's automatic.) and when you need to enter it you just do it automatically.
hope this helps..

Thank you -- that was very kind. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to notice you left something there, but the sad thing about this entry is that there was MASSES of material before the renovation, but ever since then, it's not been brought back online. There really was a lot of interesting information and your contribution would have fitted right in. *sigh* Please accept this in contrition for the lateness of my response ...

rupert... the long and horrible time in which h2g2 was down, while they were doing negotiations to become part of the BBC. every entry created before then was hidden until the authors reactivated it.

Yep. Rupert is wot I mean. The Passwords thing was coming along very nicely. But then ... nix! I got so dispirited I didn't visit h2g2 for months (I was also terminally distracted). Anyway. I was really surprised to find the UserNames were back. So maybe the Passwords will, too? *looking hopeful*

was it this entry(that this thread's attatched to) or a different one that you wrote?

It was the responses to this entry (I think). I felt sad and so I just stopped thinking about it.

-- sorry, that wasn't very coherent. The thing is, the entry generated conversations which had all the information -- I and Clive the Flying Ostrich were working on it -- and of course I'd like to report that I was totally committed to turning the information into a guide entry but ... I was kinda dragging my heels. And then Rupert happened ... and that was that. I lost interest. So in case Clive has been doing stuff, I don't know about it. It feels like a LOOOONG time ago! And I can't seem to find the same kind of time as before. *remembers with a start, that it's soon going to be time to get back to some namereading ...*

no, i think it was actually similar to my post here, it would just look a little odd to have posted the same thing twice, in two places i mean.
