Things to do in Düsseldorf

Well, we could go up the Fernsehturm
and there's the rather fabby art gallery
er... if it's nice a walk along the Rheinüfer is good
How about a tramride?
er...
Well, of course we'd have to have a stroll along the Kö
and maybe a beer in the Uhrige or ... flip, can't remember the name of the place now. Oh yes, Schuhmacher.
And of course, we have to eat Japanese food

apparently it has the biggest (or one of the biggest) populations of Japanese people in Europe

we could make boat trips (if the weather is fine) either to the harbour (and see the newest part of Düsseldorf) or down to Kaiserswerth (the oldest part of Düsseldorf, here Florence Nightingale lived...)
+++
I'll skip the japanese food though, just don't really like it (but that's no problem, especially if we go to the Uerige or the Schumacher)
+++
Once I know what most of the attendants like to see, I could create a program, as suggestion, I can find out what is going on, prices etc....

Kaiserswerth is lovely, and you can have a really nice walk along the Rhine there.

I like the idea of the river trip. And I think the Fernsehturm is worth a go if the weather is good. Kaiserswerth is always worth a look too (as long as I don't bump into my boss...)
I'm not really a Düsseldorf expert though - although I can find my way around fairly well. I was there today looking at the Meuser exhibition. That's not something I can recommend unless you're into dayglo girders.

Sho, I live here, was even born here and I am not an expert on this city...
But I think we should keep those two, Fernsehturm and Kaiserswerth in mind, can be combined perfectly (first up to the tower, then boat to Kaiserswerth)

We most definitely, also, have to have a ride on a tram. I absolutely love the trams in Düsseldorf. And a troll (stroll maybe better) up (and maybe down) the Kö

ah okay
for me the tram is nothing new, so I am not too keen on it but don't mind it (we could go back from Kaiserswerth to the Center with a tram).
And Kö... okay, it is a must for people not living here (depending on where we meet that could be the first point).
If I know more about where we all meet I can easily make a plan.

I agree with Mala, even if I had the money, I wouldn't really find things to buy there (except perhaps at the Kö Galery, where there is Saturn, where I don't want to buy, and for my kids there is New Yorker as far as I know)

I've once been there - after all, it is a *must' for tourists. I was surprised about all the ugly, extremely expensive things you can buy there. I seem to recall that there is a nice 'path' which invites you for a stroll, though - in the middle of the Kö? It's been several years since I went there.

yes, there is the Kö-Graben, where the Düssel flows, and trees at the sides. That is quite nice...
And it is only one side of the Kö with shops, on the other side you find banks and other businesses
