Hi Sho
I paid a visit to your personal space after reading your 'Ask h2g2' thread on whether it's necessary to tell your employer why you're off sick. As I read your space, I found we have a lot in common. Both female, both bookworms (I currently have about 100 books I haven't read, yet I *still* buy more books), I love all the books on your 'favourites' list (add Wilbur Smith to mine). Love the Drool Calendars, especially March on the Sci-Fi Calendar (can't get enough of Ba'al!). One small niggle - one of the pictures of Aragorn (March 2006) is actually Sean Bean as Boromir. I've
ed over both for long enough to know. I'm also into Stargate SG-1 and I'm in the middle of writing my first ever fanfic. Hope it works out OK, because I've actually asked Cliff Simon about an aspect of Baal's personality! OK, it was only on a message board, but he does read that board and answer queries, so it still counts. It won't be slash, but Baal's the one who's being tormented, for a change.
I did contribute to the Drool Thread a long time ago, but unsubscribed because people were talking about characters from series I wasn't familiar with and I didn't really have anything to contribute. Now I notice that you've got Orlando Bloom on there (known here as 'Mr. Droolworthy'), and Johnny Depp's name has cropped up (I only recently saw him looking 'normal', which is why I've only just found out he's a hunk).
So, to return to the question in the subject line: Is it OK if I add you to my list of friends?

And another thing!
I don't know who puts the calendars together, but I think it would be nice if the 'man of the month' actually matches up with the actor's birthday. So, next year you could have Cliff Simon in the SciFi calendar on September (his birthday was on September 7th), Sean Bean in the Drool calendar on April. Where more than one actor has a birthday in a given month, take your pick or put it to the vote with the more popular one getting the month. Most actors will have their birth date on IMDb.
Just a thought.

oh hi you!!
yep, I'd be flattered - and I hope you don't mind if I do the same? I've seen you around a lot but I never really have the time to talk to everyone I want to.
<--- in celebration
I like your idea about the calender - to be honest we cobbled it together so late on that we didn't really have time to check.
I'd been going off Orlando Bloom until I saw him in Extras last week. I've been in lust with the Deppster since... oh, Gilbert Grape (if not before)
my current is... hmmmmmmm... Adam from Spooks. And Sean Bean (I watched Sharpe's Waterloo last night. Very tasty)

sorry, I completely forgot to reply to some parts...
"One small niggle - one of the pictures of Aragorn (March 2006) is actually Sean Bean as Boromir"
yep, we sneaked an extra pic of the Beanster in there. Because he is universally admired for his Northern Manliness (I think we also sneaked Legolas in there too, didn't we?)
So... fanfic, eh? Do you care to share? Do you know the GateWorld website/forum? I used to moderate there until I went right off Stargate. Although now we're about to get the last season ever, I think I'll watch it for old times sakes.
You probably noticed I have also written a bit of fic. Although some of it is a bit shocking. Apparently!

I can't share what ain't wrote yet. The story about Baal is very much a work-in-progress. Besides, I'm still waiting on an answer from Cliff. (Be still, my heart! )
As for getting the last season ever, that's still up in the air, from what I've read. I know that the Sci-Fi channel is playing dog-in-the-manger over Stargate SG-1 ("We're dropping it, but the contract says you can't sell future episodes elsewhere" - that means they're too cheap to pay good money for a popular series, but don't want anybody else to have it.), but I have yet to see anything from MGM saying there definitely won't be any more series. I think they're still trying to get out of that clause, or they may go for a feature film or TV movie. Who knows?
I know the Gateworld website but I've not read any of the fanfic they have there. I'm not into reading fanfic and this is my first attempt at writing it. What makes my story unusual is that the SG-1 team won't be in it much. The main characters will be Baal, possibly including some of his clones, and a non-military human female with a non-Goa'uld/Tok'ra symbiote. Another thing that makes the story unusual is that, for once, Baal is the one being tormented. When it's written, I'll let you have a look at it so you can say what you think.
That's all I'm going to say about my fanfic. As Wilbur Smith has said, don't talk about a story until it's written, because until then it's just smoke.

totally agree there.
I never spoke about my fic, until it went to my beta for slapping into shape, and even then very rarely.
I hope Stargate is cancelled. It's been going downhill in my estimation since about halfway through S7.
Key: Complain about this post
