Our only 'gruesome' (from my first marriage) is well grown and now dealing with her own 4-pack of little monsters. Pretty much all proving the genealogical ties to Poppy. So we do have more chance for personal time ... sometimes as often as thrice a year!

Don't you recognize official Canuck'isms when you see them? Geez, I'm 'gonna' ... 'hafta' ... update the Canuck'isms.

Colonials ??? I will have you know that a lively tune has just come on the MP3-player, through the sound-system ... "Winchester Cathedral". We are still very much a part of the something or other.
Awright, so I'm a bit stuck in the 60's for my nostalgic tunes ...

I'm sure that, with a bit of thought, you can find some assistance with polishing your CV in proper German. And schools, etc will find a way to work. It just seems too opportune a chance to pass up. if all it currently costs you is time and linguistic effort?
...in just a bunch of ways ...

basically this guy has known me for 8 years - he knows how my German is etc. If I apply and I come into consideration - they have to take me as they get me.
But yes - I've decided to go for it.
yikes!

oh and the same to you and yours - I'm desperately trying to find the CD you sent me...
i know it's here...
anyway
Same back at you - enjoy whatever celebration you are having. and I wish you all a great 2008!
For the record: we're having "christmas" in that we'll celebrate a family thing with presents and food on 25th December. We'll also have a (British) friend of mine and her 3 kids (2 teenagers and a baby) over so that we can watch the Queen and throw mince pies at the tv

Ya know, somewhere out there in the ethereal world of wires and electrons, I'm sure there was a dare for some Lady to offer up a residential phone number. For the rarest of occassions and such. I have a dirt cheap minute-per rate for anywhere in North America and the offical UK, any time or day. It does not extend to Oirland or the rest of the EU, so such calls would be pretty sparse.

that's a nice thought, Nick, but I'd rather not if you don't mind.
We're unlisted and I rarely hand it out.

thank you!
btw, if we were cooking it would probably be:
Asparaugus* soup
Steamed Salmon parcels with champagne sauce (the salmon is wrapped in large spinach leaves)
with new potatoes and asparagus*
Strawberry fool and/or strawberry pavlova and/or strawberries of some description with or without cream
*green and white asparagus since the German green has just hit the market

I'm not a great fan of asaparagus, but in small measures ... even worked in with other stuff, ... it adds a bulk and hint of flavour that is pleasant. IF such a feast were to happen, I do have some rather stretchy and flexible trousers to offer for the relaxings after.

What badly written teen vampirey thingie has you obsessed? *hopes it's not 'Buffy' stuff ...*

oh no
The first of the 3 (so far, next one is out in August) is called Twilight.
here's a link

basically it'a about a 17 year old girl who goes to live with her dad in small town Washington. Where she falls for a guy who is beautiful, but it turns out his family are vampires. But...
Anyway, it's the next publishing phenomenon after the Harry Potter things. I'm currently trying to write my own teen-novel so anything that can show me how to do it successfully (if not well) is something I want to investigate.
The writing is not good. It's not awful but it's clichéd beyond belief. The Heroine is totally inconsistent and frankly dim beyond belief, but the vampires are lovely. And I'm a sucker for unrequited love and vampires. And, of course (being a dirty old woman) beautiful boys with high cheekbones do it every time
regretting it now?

Only a little ...
I quite got into Anne Rice's tales, but after a time, they got old too. I have always been a sucker for vampires and other immortal variants.
Ya know, I don't think I ever did chase down samplings of your writing skills. But I imagine that you'll slip into a mode and make tale that is gripping without being too 'cliche'.
