No, I hadn't. Good, innit? Thanks!
Interesting place, Bradford.
Snigger.
Nothing to do with as you say, unless you count employing Novelty Managers and the likelihood their gates'll jump 300% as soon as Leeds United fold.

I get up to Bradford as often as I can when visiting the Aged Parents - because I love the TV and Film museum. And then, of course, just up the road is the best Indian restaurant I've ever been in.
But I couldn't tell you the name!!
Oh, btw, it looks as though I may get to Sheffield around about Easter time (whenever Gruesome #1 has her school holidays) so perhaps we could see about a mini-meet? Or just a pint, or something?

You betcha.
I've not been in the museum for a few years. As far as I know, there's still a display in there that's about satellite imaging. It starts with half the earth from space, then frames down to Europe, Britain, Yorshire and environs, the Sheffield area, then Swallownest, a street in the village, and finally a couple of houses one of which is my mate's with his car in the road outside.
He goes on about it nearly as much as I just have. Kind of puts you off, really.

aw, he's proud of it!!
I just remember that the last time I went (oh my... I was pregnant with Gruesome #1 who is nearly 7 now) we were in the IMAX thingy, watching a making of Star Wars, and my bump kept jumping at the loud noises, making my dad laugh a lot.
And my dad went round the whole thing in the time it took me and my mum to do the first floor (then whipped us off for Indian food, before we saw any more) and he saw everything becuase we got a curator to quizz him about it!
Finally I remember him stopping by a tv showing...ah, is it Henry V? and standing there doing the St Crispin's Day speech along with Olivier, impressing a passing bunch of school kids that old 'uns could do such things.

Happy New Year, btw
I'm going to be in Sheffield in February, for a very brief visit. But, possibly we could get together for a pint? And if that's too scary, we could try to rope in a few other h2g2ers in that area?
I'll show you my tattoo.... the owl...

Let's do it.
Hope it's not first week Feb, though, cos I'm likely to be away then.
Talk more soon.

well, since I most likely will go to the pictures on the friday (13th feb) with my mum, and Saturday (14th Feb) is my Dad's birthday party, I only have one chance, which is sometime on Sunday 15th Feb. We have plenty of time to think... and you have plenty of time to leave the country!

I'm flying out tomorrow
My dear mum, bless her, has filled my weekend, so I'm not sure if I'll manage to meet up with you
sorry... I'll be over again in October, for a week, so how about then?

I was thinking about you on Saturday as I trolled around Rare & Racy (they didn't have what I wanted, unfortunately) and along past the Frog & Parrot (looks way way too clean now)
I also had to suppress the urge to punch the air and cheer going past Hillsbouroug - I wanted to stop the taxi and jump out to show passers by my tattoo! (but it was too cold)
Next time. Deffo next time. My mum wants to come along too.

It's a must Sho.
(Shall I bring AB too then?)

...Wednesday and United both won over the weekend, too!
Narthen, Lass...
Sho - employed again! Posted Feb 17, 2004
oh yes, bring AB
actually, maybe we could get a mini-meet organised.
What do you think?
My mum took a fellow and his lad down the hill to Hillsborough. They were Hartlepool supporters who got lost. She felt sorry for the little fellow.
Then she had the gall to tell me she hoped they would win, because it was t'lad's first match.

You know, I still haven't met a single hootoo-er in RL, except AB and Lion. AB doesn't really count, for obvious reasons. Lion doesn't count because, while I know her RL self, I don't know her hootoo self - only that she is (was?) in here somewhere.
There's a thought. You're not Lion, are you?

my goodness.... Haven't checked this thread for yonks.
Right - I'm probably coming over to Sheffield in the first week of October. This time I'm pretty sure we can get a mini meet thing going. Even if it's just thee and me in the Fat Cat...
I'm pretending that there is no such thing as in this universe of mine.
Oh, did I mention that I got an Owl tattoo?

Pinniped Posted Feb 24, 2005
Yeah......you mentioned it...
Great team. They narrowly beat Peterborough yesterday
Fat Cat in October. Gotcha. Who was that team again?
