Okay, so there wasn't a forum for this so I made one!
My first contribution: Mango-Lime Sorbet
the flesh of 4 mangoes
the juice of 3 limes
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
In a saucepan bring the water and sugar to a boil and continue boiling for five minutes. This is called a simple syrup, and should end up being a clear liquid. Let this cool while you are preparing the fruit. Put the peeled mangoes and juiced limes in a food processor or blender and puree. Then add the cooled syrup and the salt and puree until well blended. Pour the sorbet into your favorite ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions. Bon appetit!

Ooh.... Sounds wonderful. I did a similar thing almost by accident - I had a bag of fresh cranberries that I needed to do something with, so I cooked them up with orange juice, a bit of orange zest, cinnamon and about six cloves. And lots of sugar. I strained out the cloves, and pushed the cranberry skins through the strainer, so when I was done I had a fine slushy cranberry mess. I didn't have a sorbet or ice cream or granita maker, so I just put it in a plastic container and put it in the fridge. It turned out really tasty - a nice change from the usual cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving.
Another great thing to do with the cranberry slush is to mix it with vodka in the blender and make frozen Seabreezes...
There should be a conversation at the bottom entitled 'Just Desserts,' but there's so many conversations that it was probably hidden. This is pretty casual, anyway - I figure we'll eventually assemble all the recipes and put them in some sort of order.

I forgot the most important ingredient - I had a bottle of Cedarburg wine, which is a flavored wine that reminded me of Thanksgiving. Very heavy on the nutmeg/clove/cinnamon flavors. I used three cups of it, which blended with the cranberry slush very well. I think this could be replaced with regular sweet red wine.
