"The exceptions to this rule are the province of New Brunswick which seems to be sadly lacking in Tim's locations..."

I'm not sure how that conclusion was reached. The Atlantic provinces have the highest per-capita amounts of TH franchises, based on the TH website for number of locations (http://www.timhortons.com/en/about/faq.html) and the Canada entry (A53443) for provincial populations.

Newfoundland has a whopping 329 Tim's per million inhabitants (of which they have 0.17), and all four provinces have more than Ontario at 113 or so Tim's per million inhabitants.

One could argue that in NB almost all the Tim's are in Moncton, I suppose (where we claim to have the highest per-capita number of Tim's in the world, which at least used to be true). In Moncton, Tim's is actually IN the hospital, not across the street. smiley - smiley

Anyhow, I've never had any problem getting my fix. (At UNB, bizarre theories abound about the source of the addictiveness of Tim's coffee - but that's another debate.)

Hope this isn't a pain in the etc. on a completed re-edit. I felt like not-working, and I have now not-done-so. I just don't want NB tourism to suffer because folks are irrationally afraid of having to go without their Timmy's. smiley - tea

Was the improved poutine entry (A3802916) created as a result of this discussion or had Gnomon just not known about it?

Mudhooks: ,,, busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest...

I'm afraid that that was the result of my personal experiences in travelling through New Brunswick the summer before last. While there may be Timmys in the towns, they are singularly lacking along the highways. We did not find a single Timmys along the Trans-Canada until a lone one.... outside a town I cannot recall the name of.

New Brunswick: population: 729,498 / 72,908 sq km / # of Timmys 122
Nova Scotia: population: 908,007 / 55,284 sq km / # of Timmys 180

The actual numbers are (from a Globe and Mail story from March 28, 2005):
Yukon 2
British Columbia 193
Alberta 185
Northwest Territories 1
Saskatchewan 30
Manitoba 48
Ontario 1,358
Quebec 280
Newfoundland & Labrador 56
New Brunswick 122
Prince Edward Island 17
Nova Scotia 180
Canada total 2,472

Michigan 73
Kentucky 1
Ohio 64
West Virginia 3
New York 62
Connecticut 13
Massachusetts 3
Rhode Island 28
Maine 8
United States total 255

Summer before last may have been worse than usual, I'm
trying to remember the state of the "new" route of Hwy 2
back then. Everyone was complaining that there was
nothing for about 200 km...

Best bets if you come through again: Oromocto and
Salisbury are my 2 regular stops on the Fredericton-
Moncton run (careful in Oromocto, for some reason it's
always too d*** hot to drink for about 15 min). Both
are right off the highway adjacent to gas stations.
If you go past Moncton towards NS, Sackville is also
right off the ramp. West of Fredericton, there's one
in Woodstock near the exit for Houlton, ME, but IIRC
that's a bit further from the exit itself, you have to
actually go looking for it. Further northwest I don't
know, haven't driven that way in years.

Along Routes 15 or 16 (I recommend 16) to PEI, there
aren't any convenient Tim's, so if you go that way stop
in Sackville, then there's a Tim's as soon as you're
on the Island.

Cheers smiley - tea
