Was discussing this entry with my mother this morning, and realized that it should be mentioned that, unlike most other fast food joints, Tim Hortons does not serve hamburgers, fries, poutine, or other mainstays of run-of-the-mill fast food joints. Soups, chili, sandwiches, donuts and desserts are the menu items. Mom did say that if she could be disappointed by anything about the menu, it would be that if you arrive at the tail end of the lunch hour, you usually end up with chicken noodle soup. However, that aside, there are always 3-4 soups ranging from the hearty (cream of broccolli and cheese, for example) to the warming (the aformentioned chicken noodle, or minestrone).

Another thing to mention about Timmys is why it is Tim Hortons and not Tim Horton's as it should be.

Because of the Quebec language laws, businesses must have French names unless it is the name of a person. However, if the name denotes that it belongs to someone by that name or is names after someone, must "Francophone" the name...

Since it is a terrible expense for most companies to have two different types of signage, and to make things simple, if gramatically incorrect, Tim Horton's and Wendy's become Tim Hortons and Wendys.
