A Conversation for Talking Point: Bottled Water

Recycling opened my eyes

Still Incognitas, Still Chairthingy, Still lurking, Still invisible, unnoticeable, missable, unseen, just haunting h2g2

It wasn't until our local council issued us with recycling wheelie bins that I began to see just how many plastic water bottles we were getting through each fortnight.then on top of that were the pop bottles and juice bottles and it was obvious that it was time for a change.WE still didn't like to drink the tap water so a filter jug was the only answer.Even my husband who was scathing about my buying water in the first place likes filtered water because he has come to appreciate that tap water whilst perfectly safe quite often tastes disgusting.

cathos

perhaps recycling bins for not only plastics but also metals should be required to be supplied to every house for no cost to the recipient. that might change some people's habits and help our beautiful environment.

Sho - employed again!

the thing is, here in Germany the bottles have to be recyclable so we don't have the problem you have in other places.

How about introducing that for starters?

At home we drink filtered tap water, and the Gruesomes and smiley - chef drink sparkling mineral water (from a local place - the bottles have a deposit and are returned when we get a new crate). I'm not keen on that too often, but after a run on a hot day... yummy.
