A Conversation for Aikido for beginners (part 1)

Hi, This isn't a bad start. It seems to be a personal experience or anecdotal style you're going for, and it's easy to read.
I'd like to know a little more about aikido itself though, along with your experience on the night. Eg, what defines the style? Presumably the weapons for one thing, as many styles like judo don't involve sparring with weapons. What else?
Is the emphasis on self defence, exhibition, fitness, street-fighting?
All that sorta stuff that would help people be able to get a mental picture of what exactly aikido is.
But, like I said, a good, interesting start

Hey, thanks for looking at the article, your comments have given me some great ideas. I hope to make 'part 2' this weekend which will cover the origins of Aikido. I'm glad you like the writing style...its the way that I enjoy writing the most
part 1 - Intro
part 2 - Origins of Aikido (where it's coming from)
part 3 - Basic techniques
part 4 - Basic weapon techniques
part 5 - Spirituality of Aikido
part 5 - How weapons relate to open-handed techniques
part 6 - Current state of Aikido (clubs, seminars, people etc.)
I would like to write these articles from the point of view of my own experiences but without making it too 'diary like'.
Once again, cheers for the comments they're much appreciated.

Are you still working on this? The guide already has an entry on Aikido, so you'll have to be careful not to repeat what that says, but I do Aikido (orange belt, yellow stick grade) so if you wat any help...
