I am wary of posting too much about this subject here, but I know the feeling that somewhere else, in a place that is completely unreachable, something awful is happening to someone one cares about. Powerlessness is the most frightening thing.

Douglas Adams gave it the following definition in 'The Meaning of Liff' - the feeling that something, somewhere is about to go horribly wrong.
Seemed appropriate at the time.
