I never dare to start reading your stories unless I know I have time to get to the end. All the way through I am trying to anticipate the ending but you always maintain the suspense.

I have to say this one kept bringing back memories of a film I saw in my teens which frightened the out of me. It was called 'The Blob'.

Keep up the good work, you have a talent you should exploit. As previously said you should look to getting them published - though you have in way, here, because I am sure you are building up a following of fans.

I love those old horror movies. You can get the blob (1958 version with Steve McQueen) on DVD for about £12. I'm waiting for the price to come down a bit. Fancy those people remaking it in 1988. Hadn't heard about that. I doubt the very excellent original could be improved upon though

I am sure they won't have improved on it judging by the comments I have seen. I am struggling to remember the name of one film that terrified me even more. I thought it was called The Scream but apparently not.

It was about some creature that looked something like a large scorpion or something. It got into a person's spine and stayed there. I think the person had to scream to get rid of it, or the other way round!! My memory is hazy on that, but it scare me because I freeze in fear and can't scream. It is bugging the out of me that I can't remember the title, so any ideas would be welcome.

I had a free pass to a cinema for a year and saw everything that was going. That was when films were a real treat.

It wasn't "The Asphyx", was it? Not sure. I haven't seen it for decades, but I seem to remember the thing was a bit like a big, rubbery centipede

The title doesn't ring a bell with me. I will have a look later. Thanks for trying. My memory is such that it will probably come to me when I am washing up or vacuuming or something!

I'm mixing up my horrors. The film with the thing that looks like a centipede is called "The Tingler". Is that the one you meant?

Oh, bless you, that's the one I just couldn't think what it was called It has been driving me nuts! I am not a fan of scary films but I went every week for a year, on a Friday evening and watched whatever was on at the time. Those two stuck in my mind obviously.

When we were teenagers, my friend and I used to catch a bus to the cinema in a little town about 6 miles from our village nearly every week. Our favourites were the Dracula films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Then we caught the last bus home. Not sure whether I feel more nostalgic about the films, the old flea-pit cinema or having a reliable bus service

All three for me I think. I used to go with a friend on a Friday evening, and we used to nip out between films to get six penn'orth of chips, with more on the way home. Chips in newspaper of course and that's probably why I am the shape I am now. Chips don't taste like that any more

Makes my hungry just thinking about them, but they don't smell or taste the same these days. The joy was that they were considered good for us, and they were never regarded as something we shouldn't eat, not like now.

I used to love chip-shop chips with loads of salt and vinegar and tomato ketchup

The vinegar you get in bottles isn't the same either. The whole taste ensemble has been ruined by 'food fascists'! What could provide more innocent fun than bunging up your own arteries

And you're right. The best chips are wrapped in newspaper. When everything was full of salt and fat and unhygienically wrapped, I don't remember people suffering from allergies and goodness knows what all....

Neither do I, but don't get me on the subject of additives, chemicals, colouring, sweeteners etc. or you will be here all night. I am sure those are the things to blame, not the things we used to eat, and we weren't fat either. I was trying to think of anyone who was genuinely fat at school, and I can't!
