h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

As you know, Matt has left h2g2 and it appears an imposter has taken over his character of GOD - almighty. Obviously, this means that the Angel's pages can be deleted at any time without warning. So, a solution to the problem is needed. I have copied all the GA pages as well as Heaven into new homes. This mean that the new copies of the pages cannot be deleted by this imposter. Unfortunately this means the pages are now under my username and not Matts. Hopefully you will all understand why this has had to be done and have no objections to this. If you do then please let me know.

If this is to work, the GA links etc. on your pages will have to be changed to the new addresses. I'm sorry if you feel I shouldn't have done this, but it seemed to be the only way to stop this imposter. Naturally, if Matt comes back I will delete these pages, they are only there as a security measure.

Would whoever has taken over Matts Pages *please* hand the details to one the archangels? There has been a large amount of trouble between the GAs and the italics in the past. It would be a much better idea if we know who is using the GOD name, and can be certain that the user is not going to abuse the reputation that Matt took so long to establish...

I'm sure this is not your intent, but it would be better if one of the archs (who have been voted in by the angels, and are known to be reputable) could control the GOD persona... Please. The GAs are on a rocky patch as it is atm, this is just another thing which is tipping the balance in the wong direction....

FC is right. Whoever it is that has taken over Matt's identity: you've had your fun. This is serious now the italics have been involved and I'm assuming that all the GAs are suspects now. Please just own up. Until then, could I request that we all use the tother pages, because whoever has taken over Matt's identity could very easily delete the angels pages. I'm sorry to sound so pushy, but it should help the problem beacuse:
a) It's a security measure, so all is not lost if Matt's pages are deleted.
b) If we stop using Matt's pages then hopefully whoever it is that has taken his identity will get bored and go away. Or own up.
c) It should show the italics that we're capable of coping and hopefully take us a couple of steps to being officially recognised. Something we've been trying to convince the italics we're worthy of for quite some time!

Well, not all the GAs are under suspicion. Only the ones who are subscribed to the Archangels egroup. Which, in itself, is disturbing. I hope that whoever it is turns themselves in- FC's right, we're not exactly in a stable position right now. And what happens to the GOD persona should be discussed with the whole group.
So, are we using these substitute pages for conversation, or merely for the information threads such as Top Secret? The latter might seem less disruptive. I mean, it's a great idea, but I assume we want to keep the repercussions to a minimum...

I've copied everything in case it gets it gets deleted, but until (and only if) that happens, the idea is: use the new Guardian Angels page instead of the old one, as we don't want the person using Matt's identity getting involved with the new angels, as that reflects on all of us. As for heaven, only use that for information and not conversations so as to limit the confusion. I'll put a link to the new Top Secret thread in the old one now. Obviously there's nothing any of us can do to prevent abuse, but at least we can stop everything from being lost.

Thanks for pointing that out! And no, the links only need changing to the GAs public page and the Top Secret thred that I e-maild everyone with. Either me or one of the Archangels (I never could spell that) will e-mail you if the other pages ever have to be used. Hopefully that will not happen.

Hmmm......quite. But until such a time as we do know what's going on, please stick to the new guidelines. I'm assuming I'll have the Archangels' help in enforcing this, as it's the only way to stop whoever it is, short of them owning up.

The 'imposter' was simply a concerned, benevolent individual who simply felt a little under seige when they had taken actions to preserve the account in my absence...

I do hope so. Having been off-line over the weekend, I feel the need for some reassurance! Maybe a summary of the next actions .... maybe also some guidance for angels on what not to do or say at present? All information would be helpful. Needless to say, anything we can do to help ... we will, I'm sure.

Things are still being sorted out at present. A lot has just happened, and it is causing us to do some thinking on the subject. The Angels will be filled in as soon as we can fill them in.

Peta has changed the GOD account so nobody can access it, if the person who posted the last message was actually Matt, then hopefully he'll have the sense to contact Peta and sort it out. If Pet isn't contacted about the change of passwords, then we know that wasn't Matt. Until then, can FC, GB and Tweetie take over Sainting please? And remeber to do it at the new pages until everything is sorted out.
