A Conversation for What it Was Like in the 1990s
Blur vs Oasis

For some reason, this made headlines on BBC 6 o'clock News... Blur's 'Country House' vs Oasis' 'Roll With It'... 'The Battle of the Bands'... god knows why it was engineered that way. Personally, I preferred 'Country House', but it seems that though Blur won the battle, Oasis won the war... sweeping three at the Brits that year. But Blur still have that four-sweep from the year before, with 'Parklife'...
Odd times.

Yeah got to agree that it was totally hyped up, marketing ploy obviously. The strange thing being that this is two of the poorer songs that they've both realeased.
Did Oasis really win the war though, i'd say Blur have loads more musical credibility. They're albums weren't just about the singles and their best work was never realeased as a single, This is a Low for instance. Oasis did give a certain something to the whole scene though that had been lacking for sometime.
