What it Was Like in the 1990s
Created | Updated Aug 13, 2007
The 1990s... From La La Land to New Labour's landslide, the decade ending the millennium certainly wasn't dull. We began with a unified Germany for the first time in over half a century, but a hugely fragmented (former) Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. Within ten years the internet has rewired the planet, football has transcended sport to become a lifestyle and Bill Clinton has been hauled over the coals for cavorting in the White House. Anyone who turned on Teletubbies, watched Pulp Fiction or wept as Wet Wet Wet, Whitney Houston and Bryan Adams clogged up the UK charts will have a nostalgic tale to tell.
Wars and conflicts raged, and news of Princess Diana's death brought the world to a halt - even overshadowing the death of the planet's most famous nun, Mother Teresa. And just where did all those logos come from?
We want you to tell us what you remember from the era.
With New Labour installed in No 10 and the Democrats in the White House, what effect did this have on the world around us?
Who were the big music and movie stars of the decade? We know about Madonna and Tarantino, but who else was cutting the mustard?
There were three World Cup tournaments during the decade, but which teams won in which year?
What clothes were we wearing, and which of them will we never wear again?
Did you wear four haircuts at once, like Coolio - or just one bad one like Vanilla Ice?
