Sounds ghastly.

Does it come with a drain you can pour the presumably filthy-tasting muck down?

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

We've had a new Co$ta coffee machine installed at work. Allegedly it plays music when you buy from it. I've not tried it and nor do I intend to because it charges £1.45 for almost-but-not-quite-entirely-unlike-tea and if I find myself needing to buy almost-but-not-quite-entirely-unlike-tea rather than just making tea it I can just get EXACTLY THE SAME almost-but-not-quite-entirely-unlike-tea from the canteen for 60p. smiley - huh

The photo on the front of that machine is appalling. Bad composition, bad closeup, bad... well everything.

It's a billy club sold in sporting goods stores allegedly for subduing large and thrashing fish, so you aren't this guy: http://youtu.be/u2szB29bWD0

I still find it strange that medicines, which are supposed to do you good, have to be so strictly regulated because of all the chemicals and side effects smiley - erm

Post 776

It strikes me that most medicines don't so much do you good, as kill off or reduce something that was doing you harm.
And most of them are not very nice chemicals if you take the wrong ones or too many of them.

The pills I was given for my blood pressure had some side effects I could have done without, a dry rasping cough and reduced lung capacity. I was always coughing and getting out of breath.

I asked the doctor about the cough and breathing and he said it was just some sort of bug, I'd already been to a walk in centre and was told the same thing. I went back a few months later when it was still there, and got a stand-in doctor as mine was on holiday.

He was shocked I was on those pills as those side effects were apparently quite common, and I should have been told from the start to stop taking them at the first sign of a cough or shortness of breath. I'd been on them for a few years. I'm still trying to rebuild my lung capacity smiley - erm

There's no doubt that my immune system is badly compromised from the past couple of years' worth of intensive antibiotics, even though the dosing hasn't been continuous.

*rests her big yellow nerf hammer against her knee, hoping for some good impact engineering*

One thing I ~have~ been free of whilst here is alarm clocks. I hate, loathe and despise them, because, for all of my working life they controlled me. It got to where I mysteriously woke up a few minutes before my clock went off, just so I could get a jump on the little smiley - bleep. Eventually I put down a big (for me) chunk of money on a zen alarm clock. I still use it as a timer at Quaker meeting. It just hits a bar and goes Dinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg at the appointed time, then repeats the ding at increasingly shorter intervals.

o what sort of alarm system do other salonistas have and what's your relationship with it?

I use my now retired w*rk mobile phone that plays a little melody. It starts at low volume and slowly starts playing louder. The first time my mother heard it, she said 'that's pretty!.

Half the time I get up on the first call, half the time I hit the 10-minute-snooze.
