"Can Obama lose against either Gingrich or Romney?"

Obama is carving out a "The Rich Ought To Pay Their Fair Share, because Everyone Else Is Suffering" position.

The two spoiled rich guys are carving out a "God So Loveth The 1% That He Sacrificed The Other 99% On The Altar Of Greed" position.

We shall see what the American public will get seduced by:

1) The chance to somehow "make it" in a rigged game?

2) The idea that working like a dog all your life earns you a couple months at the end lying by the fire, being fed soft, easily-gummed foods and otherwise treated with kindness, as you breathe your last.

2) Unless you don't have any relatives. No fire then. You'll be lucky if you only have one roommate and no MRSA.

The populist "rigged game" rhetoric is going to play better against Romney, the multimillionaire who was born a multimillionaire, than it will against Gingrich, who was born poor. On the other hand, the rhetoric battle with Gingrich will be spectacular, as he insults people left and right, and Obama sits there looking like the only grownup in the room.

I don't think Obama *will* lose to either Gingrich or Romney. But can he? Sure. There are plenty of ways to blow this.

It appears right-wing tactics of fear-mongering and demonizing progressives has once again proven "successful". This appears in the Columbia Daily Tribune, under the headline:

Images of rifle crosshairs found on senators' office doors
Capitol Police, Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating.

JEFFERSON CITY — Orange stickers with an image of rifle crosshairs were found Tuesday on the office doors of several Democratic state senators, prompting an investigation by Missouri Capitol Police, Senate Administrator Jim Howerton said.

Not again, indeed!

RE: Gabby's retirement ceremony, I had a hard time figuring out what Boehner was crying over - one less Democrat is what he prays for at night, isn't it?

RE Gingrich -- that dude couldn't stick *two* marriage vows and honor his oath as Speaker of the House, and somehow that's not an issue? I don't want a Prez who spins like a weathervane, and for much the same reasons.

Talk about dog whistle politics: I've just read that, 20 years ago, Mitt Romney took his wife, 5 sons, and their dog on a 12 hour car ride... with the dog in a crate tied to the roof of the car.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Not election related but, this is the only appropriate place for it.

It is amazing how fast the conservatives have turned on Justice Roberts. People I know who support everything he stands for are ready to tear him apart.

Oh, totally.

I had an unpleasant experience today on account of an assumption I made. I assumed that any human being working in the health care industry would understand and be in favor of keeping the Affordable Care Act.

So when one of the therapists came into my room this morning, I started to say, "Isn't it great news about SCOTUS --"

"NO!!!" she virtually shouted. "I hate the ACA and I'm furious with Justice Roberts, and I hate Obama and I wish someone would KILL HIM!!"

I was really taken aback and couldn't reply for several moments, but then I asked a test question. "You do believe he's an American citizen, don't you?"

"NO!! He's a Muslim!"

"That's not a nationality."

"He was born in Kenya, OK?"

"OK, then there's no point in our discussing this," I said, and we agreed not to talk politics, and she professed love for me as a person and a patient. From my point of view, anyone who still believes the birther conspiracy is beyond rational discussion.

But replaying the 'conversation' still makes me a little nauseous.
