And how true that is!
And yet he has a good chance of being elected.

I just watched Clinton's speech, about 50 minutes long, full of policy details and point-by-point rebuttals and wonkiness. And it was fun, and he held the audience.
Afterward, I logged into dailyKos to look at the commentary and liveblogging, and read this: ' "Now, let's talk about the debt." He is just getting started. Good, it'll give us enough time to come up with a plan to repeal the 22nd Amendment. '
Although I don't think Big Dog is healthy enough to ever do politics again. I think I detected a tremor in his right hand...

Voted - and it does not surprise me that many Europeans find some of the Republican politicians to be somewhat on the scary side. I'm sorry, but the word 'Medieval' often comes to mind when I read about some of the more extreme political ideas.

I was surprised at how many Swedes and Germans had voted for the republicons (21% and 17%)
Mind you not that many votes overall (Yet)

Only Pakistan voted for Romney, I read.
So, this is it. We should know by late tonight where the election is trending, but we'll have trouble sorting out New York and New Jersey, thanks to Sandy. Then expect serious litigation in Ohio and Florida where they're not even trying to hide the fact that they're attempting to suppress the Democratic vote.

My wish list:
1. filibuster reform - no filibuster allowed at all on a motion to proceed to debate
2. filibuster reform - no filibusters on nominations to government posts or judgeships
3. filibuster reform - You wanna filibuster? Then stand up and filibuster! No more phoning it in.

I read an interesting fact today.
The last time the Republicans won a presidential election without a Bush or Nixon on the ticket was 1928 (Hoover/Curtis)
Their nine election victories since then:
1952/56: Eisenhower/Nixon
1968/72: Nixon/Agnew
1980/84: Reagan/Bush Sr
1988: Bush Sr/Quayle
2000/2004: Bush Jr/Cheney
Jeb for 2016?

I think the name "Bush" is too tainted now, after Dubya. I hope.
