Am trying to come up with something modern-yet-traditional.

I'm torn between my traditional gold-plated redwood cone, and one of my blown glass ornaments that circumstances this year dictate stay packed away...
How exactly am I supposed to put these pants on, anyway? They don't seen designed for flat folks.

Slept through the first LED and distracted through the second, whee!
Also, my numbers were wrong. It's actually 2147483646 and 2147483647, respectively (it's because it uses 32-bit integers, 1 of which is used for positive/negative signage, so they can only go up to 2147483647 (and down to -2147483648, since there's no such thing as "negative zero"), which is 2^31 minus one). And I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I solved that particular problem by keeping track of the needed information on my own. There's still no way to make it work if the looping part is less than 1/60 of a second, though, and I'm still not worried about that particular problem.
Actually, technically, it's a bit of a problem if the next "frame" gets delayed for some reason, but fixing that is a low priority at the moment. I *think* it will be a matter of checking to see if it's stopped prematurely; the hard part will be figuring out what *else* it needs to check.
Right now I'm working on implementing "fade-to-black" (or whatever color you want).

*Plops her carved wooden Ded Moroz figure down under the tree. Like Santa but less red, less jolly and with a long wizard's staff (with or without a knob on the end).*
What I want for Christmas is a baby who sleeps for more than three hours at a time, and who goes to sleep quickly again if she does wake up. *yawn* Or slippers.
Incidentally, if you happen to have any homemade ornaments handy, the h2g2 tree could do with your photos. You could send them to artists@h2g2.com
IIEM! More coffee!

Morning everyone
Attended two Christmas things yesterday. First, the party at my mum's care home which mainly involved elderly ladies snoozing along to carols, sipping sherry and so many of my mum's raffle tickets being drawn as winners that we stopped accepting prizes after the first few.
Back home it was time to go up the road to the village pub for the carol singing night with some local brass players, accompanied by free mulled wine and turkey butties.
Today we have woken up to a smattering of snow and are about to drive down to a little organic fruit tree nursery to collect the next batch of apple trees for our allotment mini-orchard.

*Brings the goo spruce an angel made by pinning paper wings to a cooked, unpeeled prawn.* The prawn has been enclosed in a teeny tiny stasis field, to keep it fresh, I hasten to add.

Woohoo! Third LED!
Just going back a bit, the h2g2 zazzle store is http://www.zazzle.co.uk/h2g2c2
The other link is a general search that contains products from people selling off the back of the books and are nothing to do with us.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Dec 17, 2011
*Mr. D adds a Quantum Bauble to the tree. It has an identical counterpart on the other side which changes position on its own if the original one moves and vice versa. Also, if you are moving it you either tell how fast you are moving it or where it currently is but not both.
Due to these factors actually hanging it from the tree is really a matter of trial and error and some whispered cussing.*

*Takes several glass ornaments from a wooden packing crate. They were hand blown in Poland and are characters fron the Nutcracker Suite ballet: Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, Herr Drosselmeyer, the Rat King and the Sugar Plum Fairy. There are more, but Witty doesn't want to hog the tree. She groups them together and the Goo Spruce adjusts its branches slightly to accommodate them.*
*She steps back to admire the tree and addresses the tree directly as she pulls a small box out of her tote bag.*
How do you feel about tinsel? I have a light hand, only one strand per tip. Just enough to reflect your lights a bit.
*Wonders if the tree has a name.*

Tinsel is of course a classic. They've got it on the tents at Occupy Leeds.
