That depends, Ben and Jerry's Phish Food needs consuming all at once...
My noisy next door neighbours (Brat Boy, who screamed all day, Thunder Gob, who shouted all day) have gone a whole two months before they were due to leave. The silence is deafening and blissful. No more being awoken at 6.30 by the white van man and again at 7am by Brat Boy. I don't know yet whether the house will be empty until my old neighbour returns or whether he'll be coming back early. Don't care, he's lovely (and a fellow Warhammer )and only had the occasional Guitar Hero party, which was quite fun to listen to anyway.

Just was reading a 2011 NY Times article about the metal tribute scene, especially the female bands like Iron Maidens and Lez Zeppelin (the latter of which I've heard a deal of on Spotify - they're good!) - and found this gem of a song desription:
"The band closed its set with “Master of Puppets,” an unrelenting detonation of a song that feels like the sonic equivalent of sticking your face in a ceiling fan."
I am not sure whether I want to hear it or not - but it's good writing
Lil, that sound like bureaucracy that would have Kafka kringe

Santra, I highly recommend The Iron Maidens, they are superb. They only seem to play in the US, so I've not seen live, just on YouTube. If you get the chance...a review for would be in order.
Tragedy - The All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees are also well worth a look at. Although male, they are all glitter and spandex. And they can *seriously* rock. Saw 'em supporting (can't 'member, The Wildhearts?) a couple of years back. Highly recommended.
If you ever come across the album 'Black Sabbath Tribute - Tribute to Abba' buy it on the spot. Smoke on the Water mashed up with Mamma Mia? Enter Sandman and Take a Chance on Me? Ho yus

I'm reading a book of essays by Neal Stephenson that's just been published, a collection of writing over the past 15 years. Glorious stuff. It includes Mother Earth, Mother Board, which first appeared in Wired and was the precursor to one of the themes in Cryptonomicon.
Accidental Empires by Cringely is still waiting for me on my desk at home.

Oh ye gods - one of the Swedish evening 'newspapers' claims:
'Eggs almost as harmful as smoking!'
Yeah, right.
That reminds me of...
What is the sexually transmitted disease that is incurable and always has a lethal outcome?
Life.

Life? Don't talk to me about life. Unless you want to, of course.
Sorry I have been silent for a long time. The job keeps me offline much of the day, and I have had a lot going on otherwise. Work's good, I happen to work with GDZ's youngest brother. Relationship is good, not sure yet when we will set a date. I ought to have you lot start a pool (considering we've been engaged for about 18 months and our original date was nearly 6 months ago it's anyone's guess). I still try to read up on the salon daily, but sometimes it's difficult to get all of it read.

for Lil. That's a pain. Is there any reason for asking for the statements? Perhaps they've lost them?

for Lil.
I've just started to engage with the fact that I'm going to Australia on Thursday.

You need to be careful with that Z, we don't need any black holes forming in the Salon.

Must say, if a black hole formed in the Salon, how many of us would join in a pool, to predict when it'll evaporate?
Tribute band mash-ups? Love. It.
Marv, good to see you, sounds like you're busy but happy. That's all good.
Lil, thanks for mentioning Cringely, I'd forgotten about him *goes to watery place to check him out again...*.
On the other front, sorry to hear the PaperMonster has you in its jaws...if you need it, pro-bono legal help is available for your situation -- but praying it won't come to that!

Oh yes.
Must get phone unlocked and get a Australian Sim.
I have a question for all you experienced travellers. When should I flip my circandian rythm? I have done nights enough to know how to do this. Should I stay up for 24 hours prior to checking into the airport and then just sleep on the plane. That could be difficult as the first flight is just a short hop to heathrow.
Humm. Maybe aim to be up for 24 hours prior to boarding the flight at Heathrow.

Morning all.
This is the last week, until next summer anyway, that I will have to hear "Daddy, I'm bored! There's nothing to do!" Yes, A still calls me daddy and I don't complain one bit!
