I hear you Lil...

*settles down cross-legged on the warm sand*
You know, this time around feels so much better than Rupert ever did - Rupert was just sheer panic. Everything and everyone just disappeared.
And I had no contact details (like e-mail addresses, messenger names or such) to anyone except Galaxy Babe, and that was only because she took on the role of being my personal Guardian Angel during my first ever h2g2 meet, less than a year after I signed up as a researcher.
*suddenly shudders at the memory*

The Rupert memory that is, I should make that clear, I feel.
I won my black h2g2 T-shirt at that meet you know, somewhere in a rather grey and office kind of part of London (the pub was the only inhabited-during-a-weekend place in the whole neighbourhood, and only because of us).
And Moxons were handed out generously, and Mark Moxon himself was there, and Shazz offered pickled cucumbers to everyone, and I thought they were delicious but when I finally managed to locate her again, she was all out of pickles.
I think I won the T-shirt for a creative CV or something on my badge. Or the backside of it, actually.

I think you got a prize when you used my painting, actually. I was very pleased.
I never went to a proper meet, although Marv and MR and Courtesy38 and Hypatia came to Lincoln once. Which was an honor, really. But I know how you feel, Ti -- a combination of nostalgia and anticipation. All's well, even though Pastey may have to destroy half a dozen computers before we walk through the doors of the new salon.
I am ready for some barbequed ribs now, I think. And we need Phil to show us how to use that telescope. And I hope eats will do some fireworks. Remember when he did a display about 10 years ago? Burned down half the Magic Forest, he did. No wonder he's thinking of forestry as an alternate career.

I won't believe it's real until the Beeb actually close the doors. Anyone wanna bet the put it off again this Monday?
Aaaaah. Food. I'll have what they're having.
*Is handed a full plate*
Mmmmmmmmph. Phmmmmmmmf. Mngh. Mphmmmmmph.

This is where you've all gone. I thought for a minute I'd missed something.
The telescope, is it one that the bots have brought out from downstairs? I'll try my best if that is the case.
*watches as an inflatable squid floats past*
Must be a propper party, though is it a wake or a celebration of a new life just beginning?
don't mind if I do Number 11

*walks up in the most garish Hawaiian outfit Evah!*
Sunglassess ON everyone or look at me at your own peril
Every good Wake is a Celebration as well: Sorry you left & Bon Voyage and Welcome to the New world.
*unfolds a hideously complicated beach chair which -true to form- immediately snaps at his fingers*
Now if I could only ...
*reprogrammes the chair with a very large ax*
Right. Now we have firewood for the evening.
I'll just sit here in the sand, under the umbrella with a and enjoy today.

I get the impression this is a lovely place to lounge and splash about a bit as we await the furniture and pastries to be delivered to the new home this week.

*having made several RL-foibled (if that's the word I'm trying to use , seeing as I'm Santraing from a motorway in Jutland) attempts to join the party, finally arrives in a pair of comfortable zip-off Fjällräven jeans, trekking sandals and, in honour of the occasion, a blue meetup h2g2 T-shirt. Oh, and his Tilley hat to cover for the sun*
'ning all . I believe I could do with one of those as well!

Hi, all. I won't be able to stay long. Long enough for a mojito, though. Busy packing both virtually and in RL.

You know, 'last seen wearing a towel wrapped around a swimsuit' has a kind of relaxed ring to it...
Time for a drink after all that food, I think I'll have a please.

Hmmm... regarding one of the most recent postings at the Noesis forum, would we feel comfortable with ads? We've been spoilt rotten with no ads during the first few years, and even under auntie Beeb, but how likely is it that we'll be ad-free in the future?
The Tombstone Party on the Beach
Todaymueller Posted Oct 2, 2011
I have not been bothered by ads on other forums so I just ignore them.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Oct 2, 2011
They can always give us a pay-for-no-ads option. You can hang out for free and have ads or subscribe and be ad-free. I'm cool with that, and have subscribed to several websites for that very reason.
I'll go to Noesis and find that thread, and suggest this if no-one has done so already.
Uh, where ~is~ that thread?
Meanwhile, I think some barbequed chicken would be a fine way to start my Sunday.
I don't feel as if things are ending -- already we have a sense of Continuity via Noesis and the transit lounge -- but moving is always changeful...

Oddly, I feel a tad nervous. No idea why. I've been pretty gung ho up until now.
More is clearly needed.
