Sack sounds lovely, Loony. I'd be happy to try a Y.
*sips her Y and munches her hummus*
What a lovely combination indeed!

When I was little I had a friend of Greek descent. Her father was from one of the small islands and her mother was 1st generation American. I loved the pastitsio, which her mom described as "Greek Lasagna'.
Matina, may I have a Y of Titania's champagne, please?

Halo all. Just getting settled into the new week. Anyone know why mondays have to be so annoying?

So long, all, I must be going. Thanks for the delicious meal, Lil.

Mondays... No end in sight... I have to look at these people for the next 4 days after this...
TwoTrees, I made it to the office at 9 sharp and stayed for much of the day. I didn't see you around. Don't look for me till tomorrow afternoon, though.
Maybe I should do some major wandering before I go to New Mexico and build my house of straw bales. I could travel to the Antipodes.

The lit teacher--he's telling you how you appear to him. St. Johns sounds like a religion-based college. They prize conformity (Resistance is useless?). In a public college things could be very different.
I don't know what your major is, but if it helps, the General Eds are usually bone-boring, which is probably why you are bone-idle.
Another idea--some of the two year technical degrees some colleges offer are producing higher pay for people than 4-year degrees, especially in the medical, internet or computer fields.
Sometimes it just takes that one teacher who sees your talents and believes in you to get you going. Hope one finds you.

TwoTrees, have some of the moussaka, it's splendid.

Lil, I don't eat mice or moose, but thanks anyway. Maybe Monty would like some?

*rolls her eyes* TT, you gotta get out more. Spending all your time in a windowless room or out on the beach, where are you going to get experience of charismatic megafauna? Besides at the school?

*hoves into view again*
And you've found me once more again, see? The mention of ouzo brought me out of hiding :-p
*snags both mouse and moose for Monty, and some saki to go with it*
There we are. Mo(o/u)se-saka.
Myself l'll go with some xoriatiki and souvlaki...
*gets Dio some pita (yes, my cat eats pita. l don't know why either.)*
Actually the lit teacher was reasonably nice about it, and spent most of the conversation broadcasting a thinly-veiled contempt for St. John's. They're not religious, or rather they used to be but are no longer. Personally l think they're rather a pack of petty elitists, but what can you do.
l'm visiting Fruity there on Saturday, though, or rather we're hitting a waltz party (can you see me at a "waltz party"? This could get interesting) after a concert.
So l'm considering setting up a pool based on how long it'll take Security to throw me off campus. Any takers?
l'm taking a poll as well: Odra's Future Career. The three answers l've got thus far are as follows:
Radio traffic reporter
Pharmaceutical test subject
"Crack whore" (provided by friend as an interpretation of a palmist's statement that my career would involve "being surrounded by men and in a position of power)
Sporky: (do l still call you Sporky, or what?) similar how so?
Excellent kebabs. And the hummus. Mm.

4. horses, especially if you can get the kind of gig I had in Corfu, looking after a barn full of geegees and taking hotel guests out for rides. Your official career title would be "Sports Nomad". When the tourist season is over you go to Europe and ride big fat dressage warmbloods for Paul Schockemohle.
*watches Dio rip the pita to shreds* Say, will he like the garlicky yoghurt dip?

That's a good point, actually, and it doesn't involve selling my body, hey!
Of course, option two could be fun, at that...
Were you trained as an instructor, then, before you started? What does that entail?
Actually, he'd probably love the garlicky yogurt. He likes regular yogurt, and he also likes spicy foods like salsa...
*places small spoon of it by him; he snuffles at it, laps at it, and proceeds to alternate between it and his pile of attacked pita*

Speaking of bodies for sale, I wonder if you would be interested in modelling some clothes or even a specialist costume. If you have any ideas, email me -- [email protected] . Amy is doing non-human guest models, and I'm looking for humans and humanoids. Actually, any of my regulars who are interested, contact me! No guarantees, you understand -- Amy and I are working flat out.
I did a residential training course at a riding academy near Stratford-on-Avon. Wonderful horses, and FBHS instructors. But bloody hard work. Getting a BHS qualification is like magic, especially from a good place. Mind you, teaching AND riding styles may have changed since I trained. It was very quasi-military in the mid-70's.
I have a stash of Obscure Canadian beer. Fancy a bottle?

Ah, thank you...*snags a bottle and a refill of hummus*
l've a question for you, actually...how exactly do you check those h2g2.com mailboxes? l have one, apparently, and l've never looked in the thing.
l'm getting terrible about mail, frankly. My Hotmail got so huge that the server started deleting things for me...apparently you can't have 467 incoming messages without said repercussions...
How long did your qualifying course take?
*sips*
Shall think on that model offer...sounds awfully fun. Let's see, an outfit...hmm...
*saw The Princess Bride earlier today and is rather sillily picturing a Holocaust Cloak being involved *

If you have a h2g2 mailbox, any messages you get are automatically rerouted to whatever address you specified. I hate hotmail. That is the only one of the addresses I have that consistently fills up with spam for porn and quick bucks. And it's sloooooowwwww.
Training for BHSAI takes as long as the director thinks it takes. Exams occur every three months and it's a very big deal, takes all day. First you have riding on the flat, then over jumps. Then there's an oral on stable management, and a written exam on basic equine veterinary science. And then you demonstrate your ability to teach riding by teaching. The examiners are all judges and horse-world notables, four of them. Pass or fail. The next levels, BHSII and BHSI, involve more advanced horsemanship and teaching, until the exam consists of watching you get to know a horse and school it on, and then doing the same with a rider and his or her horse.

Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Oct 31, 2000
Quite an involved deal, it is. l don't even think America has a system, or rather it has, but it essentially appears to involve paying a set fee to attend a three-day conference and being handed a certificate at the end...l rather think the BHSAI has a tad more merit, somehow...
So that explains why l get all that h2g2 mail in my hotmail account...okay.
You know, l never seem to get any spam or porn links in my Hotmail -- l think all the other mail l get must fill it up
Have you and Amy got anyone lined up in particular for the show yet, or is it all to be a surprise?
