*walks in from the service lift after actually commuting to an office today and sitting at a desk not her own*
Hello anybody. *checks calling cards* Hm, not an unusual day for everybody else, I guess.
Phil, I saw your post over at the floor plan, and I hope you know you're welcome to stay in the guest room, even if you don't adopt a suite. Irv will be pleased to hear that I happen to have a green rug with a Navajo pattern laid up in storage...
*settles back in settee* Matina, would you bring me some pekoe tea, please?
Pity me, for I have only just discovered Ronnie Earl! *puts Healing Time on the Bose*

Nice place you have. I hope the Atlantic is only a block away?

*wanders out of the library where she's been hiding with Henry V all day.
Well.
You know.
Not the -actual- Henry V.
No matter what you may be thinking of her, she's -not- that kind of girl...
(not with centuries-dead bloodthirsty religious maniacs anyway )
Did somebody mention champagne? Hi Witty, SittingBetweenTwoTrees, Lil and all.

Hallo Witty, glad to find you in person at last. Witty, meet TwoTrees, a friend of mine IRL, my ex-officemate, actually. She has just registered. *accepts Y from WM*
TT, there is a lot of magic in this place. The champagne never runs out in this bottle, so drink your fill. It was a gift from Titania, who is an elf. QED.
And believe it or not, we are within walking distance of the beach. I will fil you in on some of the backstory on Friday when I go back to the shores of Hell, aka RTC... where Darlene is Queen of the Night (in-joke, Witty, sorry)
Let's toast TwoTrees, may she long enjoy researcherhood!

Ho Odra! simulpost....
Well, Odra, TwoTrees, TwoTrees, Odra.
Matina -- this is my maidbot, TT -- would you bring out some soda crackers and that Vermont cheddar, please?

Cheers, and welcome to h2g2, the place where we come to get away from it all!

Odra, we have to get this horse business together -- we have 3 animals lazing about the place. I have the property marked out, you remember me telling you about it this summer? It's well drained land with plenty of trees, and a stream straight off the mountain within handwalking distance that will be wonderful for the horses' legs.
Anyway, we need to get a floor plan together for the barn!

Oo, there's a stream? Lovely. l remember being in lreland at a stable for a week and after each ride we'd ride along the edge of a road to a stream under an old stone bridge and wade through it. And watch the horses splash us and each other. Quite lovely, it was...
So how big a barn shall it be?
We'll be needing a barn cat...
*Dio looks over, then leaps up onto the sofa with an oh-no-you-don't expression*

*helpfully, looking sidelong at Dio* and a wormhole.
Well, we'll be doing livery as well as keeping our own animals. I think we might want to have a complex of stable areas -- loose boxes for our own horses, a long barn for livery, and a quarantine barn. Turn-out areas, an indoor school, several maneges.
Yardbots to do the feeding, watering, mucking out and regular turnouts when we can't get down there.
Feedstore, hay, muck heap, fresh shavings, tack room. What have I missed?

l'd say wash stalls with hot and cold running water....hmm...
lRL l have been terribly spoilt by having electrical outlets at each of my stalls, which are so -wonderful- for hooking up fans to blow breeze into the stalls in the summertime, and also for clippers and so on...
Can we find a spot to build some crosscountry jumps as well? And maybe an outdoor grass dressage ring...
*Dio still does not look thrilled*
Oh, c'mon, silly cat. You grew up in a barn...
*cat stares a bit coldly*
You can still sleep here...
*brightens slighly*

wash stalls, yes, and cross-tie grooming areas with infrared heat lamps. An area for the farrier.
We shall have glorious courses, better than Burghley. But we'll want to design carefully so that there are several ways of approaching each jump according to the horse's skill. We'll have hacking trails too. I found a beautiful trail when I was in Corfu that ran right along the spine of a ridge, and there were inland vistas on one side and the ocean on the other.
Think we can do all this in 20 acres, not including pasturage?
This being h2g2, I expect no flies. So I won't worry about that whole fess with the sprays and such.
Changing rooms for humans, with showers. And within 6 months we should be turning out recyclable compost for the gardens here and at Va Voom.

*skips about gleefully*
l think it'll all fit...hmm. Maybe the stable itself on a slight rise, the quarrantine barn apart from that, separated by a courtyard area, pasture rolling down the rise and meeting the treeline, the stream running nearby...

Sorry I missed the champange and crackers. I must have been clunking around trying to figure this place out. Maybe next time.
