Party! Tenth Anniversary of the Atelier

Ben - where's the brush and dustpan, I've got a little pile of dust in a corner of the kitchen, and I can't find it!

Can't you just ask a maidbot to do it?

Mrs Zen Posted May 20, 2010
I *am* that maidbot, Kelli....
Have you tried under the stairs? Failing that, Henry is your fiend.

*DD strolls in fashionably late in a black dinner jacket, diamond cufflinks, black bow tie and sandals (well it is H2G2 after all, have to remain a hoopy frood)*
BTW Babel 17 and Fashion Cat are fine last I saw them with junior.

From the foyer, 3 years and a bit ago. Seems much less than that, I am a comparative newcomer. Still feels homely here though.

10 years wow!
Ten years ago I was already getting a reputation as a prolific writer on H2G2. Some things haven't changed I've almost written 2,500 bog posts on my blog which will be 5 years old in just over a month.
I was in Northern Ireland at the time not aware that in 4 days time I would meet the woman that would change the course of my life, move me to Scotland get me back involved in politics to the degree that I have stood for Westminster twice and now amd looking to the future and the Scottish elections next year already.
I'd also yet to come out, before going back in, before being confortable with who I am.
I've had so many good times in the Atelier and tend to drift in and out picking up where I've left off, RL can been hectic at times. I've met some really good friends on H2G2 and in here, many of whom I've yet to meet in person, but others whom I have.

10 years ago I was a few months from discovering this website, I considered myself the biggest fan ever of DNA's work..
Then I came here and my feeling was that Lil's Atelier was really the place to be! But I didn't dare post very often, because I considered myself very uncool (was a teenager then)
Yeah! Classic goo for ever! Alabaster sucks!

Bog posts? Aren't they better than that? Good to see you around, DD!
Courtesy & Loony I have conversed with Methinks a plaque somewhere in a nice spot of sunshine through windows wouldn't be a bed idea...

DD! Welcome to the party. Food is that way, drinks are that way *pointing* And we have a proper bowling green out on the lawn now.
Let's see, Courtesy was engaged to be married, last I heard. So is Irv. The Man Who Can was last heard of teaching English in China, after which he was not heard from again. ffMike is still doing computer stuff, but never came back after he stomped his account to bits. Mike A has a degree in history, but I've been out of touch with him for several years now.

H'okay third time is the charm to post this
after much googling, wandering around in Goo for an hour and for some unknown reason an argument with the BBC server I found this F38024?thread=5643905&skip=1191&show=1 my first posting to the atelier.

Following your example I found my first appearance... It was a Masque for a multi-birthday (including mine, I think), and everybody was appearing under the disguise of other accounts

It very much looks my early history has vanished. I wondered if a lot of it never made it through moderation when H2G2 fell under BBC rule. There was so much they had to check after the swap.
I know where I am now though, and that's all that counts.

Yes, you're truly right!
And the past cannot lead us very far ahead anyway can it?
(although it's sweet to recall)...
My best wishes to the Atelier and those who attend it, may it have 10 more years of discussions and friendships
And 10 more years after that
*bounces off to bed*

I was an occaisional lurker from back in the days of the Mother of All Gooses, but I first dropped in at the Atelier less than a year ago, and was welcomed with and a kind warning about the crisper! I've certainly enjoyed getting to know y'all

Just been trolling (in a good way) through the old threads.
For people who were here apres Leopard (the original Guide code) you have to realize that large threads would load on a single page and murder the browser. You had to start new conversations after 75 or so posts or it would crawl to a halt. There was some really interesting threading stuff going on back then too, which is now lost to the bowels of time. Ripley was Jim Lynn's response. Dust off and nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. Later major (almost catastrophic) changes were losing our beloved fish (I really miss my personal Fenny Fish), the loss of the guide till the BBC brought it back Now With Moderation!, SSO, and the latest authentication method.
Key: Complain about this post
