Good morning all
*Toasts Admiral Witty*
Erm, I seem to have promulgated the acquisition of a new rank, Witty
There is little I can say other than it is , at least, in the senior service. I hope you do not find your new duties too taxing and that you do not have to spend an excessive amount of time at sea.
I will of course do my bit in regard to all of the gold braid you will need. If you will let me have a few of your hats I shall make a start on the sewing.

I agree with FG - it would be much more productive for us to take turns banging Mr Moniker's head against the wall than for us to watch while Witty bangs her own head against said wall.
I've managed to annoy the director of The Pajama Game, by letting him know that I will miss a rehearsal in March. I know it's going to be a pain, but it will be the one and only 'on the floor' rehearsal that I miss (I missed one when we were learning the chorus music and yet still know it better than the rest of the tenors), when there are quite a number of people who have already missed multiple floor rehearsals, often without letting anyone know in advance. I want to refuse to feel guilty, but I'm failing.

Gold braid... I like that! And as long as I am at sea on a cruise ship, I can stay there indefinitely.

Gosh, being ill really takes it out of you, even when you don't realise it. I thought I'd recovered this morning, so decided to cycle into town as usual rather than catching the bus. That was a mistake! I was fine on the way there, and through my hair appointment, but once I started walking around to pick up the bits of shopping I needed I came over all dizzy and had to stop. I've still not recovered now, although I made it home without mishap.
COme to hink of it, this is the first time I've ever had dye in my hair before - could the dizziness be related, do you think?

Amusingly yes, it was highlighted with a dark blonde (and a light brown, apparently). Not all over though.

Morning all.

I am thoroughly fed up with the PC World site. All I want to know is whether I can pay by cheque if I go to the shop. I don't have a credit or debit card. I don't have any way of borrowing somebody elses card to pay with, either online or in person. I can pay by cash or cheque, but there is a limit to how much cash I can draw out per day. That being the case, I would like to pay by cheque, in person, at the shop.
But they won't tell me if I can do that, and the shop is four miles away. I don't want to spend the time and the bus fare on going only to find I can't actually buy anything!

I hate telephones. That may have to be the next step. I'd like to get the computer situation sorted.
Of course, it's also going to cost me more to get the same thing, because I can't buy from the cheaper online places. Grr.

*Only has 14 minutes left online, so won't be able to catch up with the backlog, *
I hate it when shops are like that, and they only list central numbers which don't know what individual stores have in stock.

Ah sorry, I took it as being with no mention of cheques then they are not accepted. there are very few places that seem to accept cheques these days

The trouble is that that page refers specifically to the online store, not the physical ones. The FAQ says if you want to pay by means other than card, go to the shop, but it doesn't actually specify which methods will be acceptable in the shop.
Head, meet wall.

Wity, congratulations to #2. Fab news. As to the stbx -- a swift kick up his inconsiderate arse and a sigh of relief that you're getting rid of him. He's clearly not going to hang around a lot because of the girls. What a worthless piece of humanity.
MC, a good friend actually lived in Costa Rica for a number of years. He loved it. He lived on the Pacific coast overlooking the ocean. The only place I've actually visited on that list is Merida. It is a lovely Spanish colonial city with lots of women shorter than I am! Mayans. How cool is that? F and I had planned to retire in Cuernavaca, which is more in the center of Mexico. It's on the highway between Mexico City and Acapulco. But I'd never want to go there alone. I think I'd pick Vienna.
Runescribe, I sympathize about the check business. I put off getting a credit card for the library for years, but was finally forced to do so.

"....outside a Soho street cafe, there's a slogan chalked on a blackboard to lure in hungry breakfasters: ""Sex and drugs and bacon rolls"" Imps like that sort of thing!
