Mm. Sigh. Exhaustion sets in...or maybe it's the blue dust...
*fixes herself a nightcap and reclines on cushion, sipping it slowly and casually, deciding to head off after she finishes it*

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 16, 2000
*emerges from private apartments, looking refreshed*
*finds only a few recumbent people this time, Styx buried deep in his nest, Mindspring curled up in front of the hearth, the smorgasbord table cleared off and ready for disassembly, and the cleaning bot parked just outside the hall closet with a sign on its thorax saying HI I'M MINOOVA*
*all the balloons have been netted and are lodged in a seine up against the high ceiling, net strings dangling to the floor*
*takes Violet to the north window, hearth-side, puts her down and looks out as a big jet roars by overhead on its way to Singapore and Australia* Bye Mike!
OK, time for some coffee and greens for Springie. Styx?
*a twitch from the nest then silence*
Styx?
Poor old ratty. Well, there's food when you want it.

Surely there are some left overs from QMike's going away do, these things never get fully finished on the day.

Oh, the fridge contains LOTS of stuff.
*goes to kitchen and opens door of walk-in fridge which has shrun from a small warehouse to a pantry*
There's half a roast turkey, plenty of stuffing and mash and gravy. Plenty of jambon de Paris. A loaf of whole wheat bread, half a loaf of rye. Condiments galore. Salon's all gone, and the eggs and caviar are finished, too. Half a round of cheddar and plenty of crackers. Here's a head of lettuce. There are several tomatoes on the windowsill.
We'll be eating off this party for a week.
So you just forage for what you want.
*comes out of kitchen with turkey-lettuce-tomato sandwich and a beer*

*finds ox's calling card on the occasional table at the top of the stairs* Isn't that sweet?
By the way, in response to popular demand and some fly-by-night construction, there's an amended floor plan up on the page.
*enjoys sandwich and beer and fire in the hearth while it rains outside, reading Isaac's Storm*

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jul 16, 2000
*floating in, in her usual vague, elf-like manner*
Hi all!
Sorry, too tired after the Falun folk music festival to check all the conversations since I was here last time, but I saw I missed the going-away party...
*Champagne from the fridge, sits down on the floor and starts cuddling with Styx for a change*
Nice rattie!

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
*wanders in, fixes a turkey sandwich with dressing and cranberry sauce and salt and pepper. The sandwich is about 2 inches thick. Settles down in a chair to eat, resting his book (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) on the floor.*
Hello, all. Things always seem empty after a party, in the cold light of day, don't they? A little depressing, but I'm sure things will liven up again soon.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jul 16, 2000
*realizing Styx haven't reacted - in ANY way - to the cuddling*
Lil, are you sure he's alright? Maybe you ought to let a veterinary take a look at him...
G'night all, got to get some sleep, finally..../-)
*drifting off, in her usual v.e.l.manner*

*was watching Styx resist the irresistible Titania but said nothing*
I'm afraid Styx has got the blues. He didn't eat this morning, not that I saw.
I was going to organise a balloon letting-go today, but it's raining, which makes me glad of this fire. Garius, how's the book? I've never read any Harry Potter.

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
I'm only on chaper 11 (about 1/3 of the way through), but it is very good. The Harry Potter books are excellent. They are destined to become classics. The plots are intriguing and keep you reading and keep you surprised and amused. The characters are very real and easily identified with. You grow to love and hate them, appropriately. Highly recommended.
*Pierrot flys over to Styx, with a piece of meat in his beak.*
Pierrot: Aaaawwwk, cheer up, Bucko.
*Pierrot pushes the piece of meat to Styx*
Pierrot: Aaaawk, I'll miss him too.

Phil Posted Jul 16, 2000
What's on the cover? Over here there are two different covers for each book. One the 'childrens' cover with a coulourful illustration on it. The second cover is either a plain hardcover or the paperbacks have B&W photos which look to be old movie stills (the one I remember was a picture of an oncoming steam train).

*watches with concern as Styx ignores the meat*
Poor old rattus.
Phil, are you sorted out yet for the OTD list?
Garius, do you know the LeGuin trilogy, the Tombs of Atuan? That is still one of my favourites in children's reading.
1Cth Conversation at Lil's
Phil Posted Jul 16, 2000
I read them when I was a little boy. Can't of course remember the first thing about them now
I've still not got anything from OTD. I'm getting things from ecircles so I know the bigfoot address is working. You've definatley got it as phil55494 haven't you. What's the address to send stuff to for OTD?

It's ridiculous. First, try going to topica.com and registering. Are you registered there? Then I will email Natasha, their support botlady (who is now having an affair with Sporky), and make her expedite it personally.
