Poor Kelli. May I recommend a Japanese thing, ingun burei? It means "to insult with politeness." And, like most forms of Japanese etiquette, it is an art form.
If our scribe hasn't shown up by the end of the day, I shall have to make other arrangements. I'm sorry if that wastes her work, but we do need to move on.

We'd move on because of tradition. It's our tradition to keep the conversations to a certain number of posts. That number has grown over the last couple of years, but it is a way to remember the pre-interregnum guide. Prior to the ripley release, conversations that went over a few hundred posts would cause (mostly netscape as I recall) browsers to crash.
I believe that the way that the Salon's conversations have evolved requires that we break them in to seperate instances. It's rather easy to lose the plot at times. The regular recaps that teh scribes help Lil provide give newcomers a chance to ease in to what is really a contiguous conversation lasting for fiveish years.

Sod them. If your metabolism worked that quickly you wouldn't need to lose weight (that excuse worked for me anyway )

* clambers over an unfeasibly large pile of backlog *
It appears that I somehow unsubscribd from this conversation about a week ago. I think I hit the wrong 'unsub' button in the My Conversations list
Boy did I get a shock when I resubscribed
Anyway, some bits from the backlog:
Amy - the reason that there were police all over Leeds station on Tuesday last week was because that was the evening that Sheffield United were visiting your town to play the locals at . There is a certain amount of 'previous' between the two clubs, so the police weren't taking any chances. (BTW Sheffield won 4-0 )
Ben - don't let any prescribe beta-blockers as a prophylatic (sp?) against migraine. They did this to me a few years ago, and the effects on my day to day life were terrible. It felt like I was living my life whilst wading through porridge. Everything I did or thought seemed to have a half-second delay built into it. Driving in the end became impossible. So I stopped taking the drugs before I killed someone.
Shoes - Almost all DMs apart from an ancient pair of hiking boots and some retro adidas trainers.
Name - I changed my name back to my mother's maiden name some years ago. The reason mainly because my Dad was a prick, and my Maternal Grandfather was a decent bloke. Therefore if I'm going to have a name, it might as well be that of someone who I liked and respected. The only problem with the name is that it is similar to that of a well known brand of mayonnaise, and everyone keeps putting in extra l's and n's where they shouldn't be.

Looks like I missed the name thing somehow so here it goes.
I changed my name back to my mother's maiden name a couple of years ago because I didn't much like my adopted name (from step-dad #1) and hated my birth name. I now have a brilliant Scottish name that most people cannot pronounce or spell.

Don't worry, GD, I have (horse pills), but they are reactive not prophylactic.
All in all it was quite a medical weekend: not only did I see my GP on Thursday , I went to the vampires on Friday (to see whether or not I have diabetes - I don't), and to the hostpital to see S on Friday and on Sunday , and went-with another friend who wanted someone to come-with for an appointment on Monday .
One weekend, one surgery, two clinics, three hospitals.
