Comes back through the front door.
Wind in the trees... I like the scroll you did for Courtesy38's tea room. Do you have a translation? Myself and Courtesy have been sat in the garden listening to it grow and discussing some of the other tranquil pages here on H2G2. Have you been to John-The-Gardener's Tibetan Greenhouse Dugout ( http://www.h2g2.com/A202654 ) ?
Have you found out about the cost of getting a UK supply for the wacom pad? I sent something to the list to give an indication of a UK price for a generic supply that would work.

The scroll shows kanji for "spirit (ghost)", "village" and "TDV"
If I could have found a better ideograph for digital, I would have used it, but the idea of our spirit or ghost entities participating in a village is good enough food for meditation, I think.
What's the URL again?
I'll have to check out john-the-gardener's place.
As for the Wacom part, no way will it cost that much over here, and I might be able to get it for free from Wacom, since the tablet is actually obsolete. The Intuos and Graphire lines don't require independent power supplies.

Cool. I used to work with someone who could both speak and write japanese. She'd get faxes from clients in Japan and translate them for everybody else. To reply, she had a kanji typewriter on her desk. Not bad for an English lass
The tea rooms and zen garden are found at http://www.h2g2.com/A331624
Hope the wacom part comes through.
How's the new pad? are you getting used to it's foibles and the diferences with your old pad?

Well, already it's proven better for artwork because the increased real estate means I can paint in fuller, larger strokes. Strange, because I was so accustomed to the smaller size that I didn't notice the lack. And I still have a separate 4X5 Intuos with my notebook.
It also seems to "notice" the pen from higher up, that is, it's more sensitive, so I have to be careful to lift the pen away when I'm finished with a stroke.
The larger size means I can experiment a lot more with Painter's "wet" brushes. It's quite extraordinary how natural that app's brush strokes can be. I see that you've joined eCircles; have a look at my artwork photo album when you get a chance, and you'll see a lot of "pastel" work that I've done.

I've been looking round to see what's been uploaded. I'm currently listening to an MP3 that Marv put up. Quite an interesting version of Welcome To The Pleasure Dome (Frankie Goes To Hollywood).
I've had a look at some of your stuff, I liked the Hummingbird. Looks similar to the old logo of Hummingbird software, lots of green and the bird midflight, though a somewhat blurred version
I'll have to try and find some photo's other than the meet ones (which will go up or I'm sure that enough people would lynch me the next time ) to put up, or have a play with. I've now got a large HD on my machine at home so I can keep lots of stuff on there. Shame I can't get it set up right

Do please put the kettle on. And there's fresh moebius doughnuts on the counter.
*muffled sound from behind the door of the Nephew Suite not unlike sustained machine gun fire*
What do they do in Swedish mosh pits anyway?
The hummingbird probably involved less work than anything else in that portfolio! It was a photograph my uncle took with a 300mm lens in his own back garden, and I just applied some texture to it, after I had cropped it down to a decent colour composition.

Sweedish mosh pits... jump around to nordic death metal played at too loud volumes with loads of smoke pouring off the stage Perhaps MikeA's going to let us know.
Sometimes that's the way it goes. I don't know what it was but the hummingbird was the one that caught my eye when I looked at the thumbnails.

I didn't think that smoke machines were unique to Sweden. I thought maybe the Swedish girls went topless into the mosh pit or something.
Sporky, maybe you can go on an expedition through the door to the Nephew Suite... bring back news of Ferrari. And Swedish mosh pits.

If he comes out and tells us -- our Mike A has a lot of homework IRL.
*floor trembles*
Now that's from downstairs.

Well, I can see he is 'in the building'. What are Gary and Affy up to down there? And where is Ampton?
8th Conversation at Lil's
Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted May 23, 2000
I don't know where Ampton is. Remember when Affi brought him upstairs wearing a blindfold? It was all such an anticlimax -- Ampton ran an errand for me then clomped off to the service elevator and went downstairs and I haven't seen him since. And then I met Affi when I was out at the new forest -- Moxon Wood -- and he was asking _me_ how it was with Ampton. So I don't know what is the case.
But Springie doesn't seem to miss him.
