Well, the rain in Stockholm lasted exactly one day, yesterday was sunny again. However, the sky seems to be clouding over today again *looks hopeful*
Oh, and please don't send any more rain in this direction - obviously the south of Sweden is getting flooded, so I'll see if I can lure some of that rain further north.
Education and the possibilities of a job career... well, for most jobs in Sweden these days, I do think you need some kind of college education.
There are, however, several jobs where you don't necessarily need a university degree - like the hotel business. A decent knowledge in English (compulsary from the age of 8 - or was it 9?) and an additional language (most commonly French, German or Spanish since these can be studied during the pre-college years from the age of 13).
I believe I've mentioned that a colleague of mine - and myself - have both achieved our current positions of financial controllers at hour head office through massive and varied work experience rather than education, starting out as, in my case, switchboard operator and in her case, waitress.

Luckily it seems that they have disarmed a bomb in time.
distributed freely around along with the rum/cocoa concoction. For myself, if you don't mind, I'll take som e untainted cocoa and lash it with brandy instead. Was kind of vaccinated against rum years ago... (yep, liked the ties one, Lil )

*sighs*
'will suffice' should obviously have been included in the previous posting, and it's 'our' not 'hour'
Any of that cocoa-rum left? It can't make matters much worse, surely?

Will all of you who have extra rain please send it towards southern California? Heck, anywhere in California would be good. At this point, I'm pretty sure we're on high fire alert thru at least December.

Ignores the cocoa and just has some rum.
The weather has gone back to being cloudy and miserable again, not sunny and bright as it should be. More rain for the weekend. It must be really hard for those in the flooded areas (Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley) knowing that there is going to be yet more rain even if there will be not as much as at the start of this week.
Still I would like it to be dry tomorrow for the entirely selfish reason of wanting a nice afternoon out wandering round this here fair city to look at some of the stuff going on as part of the first Manchester International Festival. Then we go for a meal and go to one of the shows

"What, oh WHAT is going on with the weather? It is pouring with rain. It has rained nearly every day for a month. Apparantly, the Met office thinks it will rain for another month."
I am not in the office this summer, and want to spend my days out and about, therefore it will chuck it down until next spring when I return to work - at which point it will be glorious for the following year. Harrrumph indeed.

What I can't figure out, FK, is why it affects the weather in Denmakr, too?
11 is on his scouting camp next week. They "promise" >20 mm (appr 1") both Mon and Wed. Good thing I saw rain gear go into his backpack!
I'll happily try to push clouds your way, MR, all you want - even though I had some success with the giving Ti some, I somehow doubt my abilities on distances that great...

Is that a real picture or is it photoshopped?? The edges of the markings seem suspiciously clean to me, and I would have thought that such a combination would result in a dorsal stripe...
*puts on her post office sandals* MR, we don't have any rain to spare. The Bonito has dried up north of the springs at the west edge of the historic district (thank you developers ) (and thank you to the city of Alamogordo for ignoring the law about preserving flow over the spillway at the Bonito Lake dam ). Why don't you ask Texas?

We have rain to spare.
Hey Teuchter! Maybe if you breathe on the rain clouds they'll head back out to sea. I'm seriously hoping you post a photo of your gorgeous new look after your day at the hairdressers. Have J or Mr. T take a photo, please. *wishes she could afford a dat at a fancy salon*

Lil, you take the Missouri Rain, and I'll take the Texas rain, and we'll call it good?
All of the West is dry, with the exception of Texas (which I don't consider western, but they certainly do). Although I haven't heard much, good or bad, out of Colorado, at least weather-wise.
I was awoken 2 hours before I needed to get up by maintenance men fixing the sprinkler system right outside my window...at6:30 a.m.! I am NOT pleased.

I'm supposed to be traveling through London on Sunday, currently packing for the big move. I'll be away for a week after that too-going home to do stuff.

Not *all* of California...
*starts fanning southward*
Then again, I know the Fourth must be coming up, since it's raining. Though I was surprised last year by someone saying that it's always been nice here on the Fourth--turned out they'd moved up here after Tom and I were married and moved. When I lived here before, I grew accustomed to some of the fireworks being fully visible, and some of the firewrks being nothing more than pretty colors--the proportion depending on how high or low the cloud cover was
Of course, the fact that I've got to do things like go over to the school I was working at to pick up my paystub (the check's already deposited, but we may need the stub--we're thinking of different housing options, as we currently live in low-income housing, and the settlement(s) for the accident will take our assets too high to live here That, and Tom and I both think that the downstairs neighbors' possession of a 215 card is causing our home to acquire a certain scent... *translation--they smoke a lot of pot downstairs, and it's seeping up through our floor*) and drop off Tom's substitute teaching timecard at the school district office (which, fortunately, is on the way). I've got to walk, and it's far enough that Faith needs to ride in the stroller (which I *do* have a raincover for), but there's a few stretches of no sidewalk, especially if I take the shortest way, which is through the high school parking lot (the next shortest adds about a mile) I can put off going to the store until this evening, when I can have Tom drive me, but the other stuff needs to be done during business hours.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted Jun 29, 2007
I see the bloody loons are trying to blow up London again!
.............................................
I have been away for the week working but when I had a few hours off I went walking each day. Saw around 4 fallow deer in countryside/farming area, a barn owl catching mice, a hare, rabbits, house martins, goldfinches, pied flycatcher, willow tits, etc, however the best part of week was going on a 1955 steam train! I haven't seen a steam train for around 45 years when I was going over a bridge with my mum and one went under in a cloud of smoke. It was at the Watercress Line's 10 mile track and the train goes 20 miles and the journey is around 90 mimutes. The stations are laid out as the time steam trains ran. The trains are the full size working trains of that time and had around 5 carriges. You can see stean trains on TV but you don't smell the coal burning, feel the ash and wind on your face as you look out window and can't really feel the movement or hear the chuff, chuff, chuff as the train speeds up or feel the whistle blow! A fantastic 90 minutes, something I have wanted to do for years, a very good value £10.

Warmonger Bliar as peace envoy, what a joke. What next Shrub being given the Nobel Peace Prize?
.
Brown as the new Primeinister, the same liar and sneaky tax riser we had as chancellor! I don't believe a bloody word Brown says before or now. A new form of inclusive governMment he claims he wants, more like a sneaky way to get other parties in his government to avoid the kicking out he expects at next election,

* passes through the salon on her way outside with Zeppo and Gummo
The celebrity snip was a non-event.
Harrrumph.
I thought I'd better phone to double check the place in Covent Garden was still accessible since most of the west end aint - and found out that they've transferred the snipping side of things to another salon who had no record whatsoever of my booking.
Double Harrrumph.
The Celebrity Snipper himself is apparently in Seville today.
Encore d'Harrrumph.
I was very restrained and managed to do Disappointed & Upset rather than furious and a nice lady phoned me back. We have rescheduled for 01 September.
As my No2 daughter pointed out, at least I get to be in a state of excited anticipation for another two months - and we had a lovely day together in Reading. I don't often see her so it's fun to spoil her when I do.
Let's face it. There are considerably more important things in life than flippin' haircuts
