I looked for Octavo Designs and found a blank orange screen, which might correspond to their security alert. From what I can tell, they took their website down because the world has converged on them.
For those who didn't follow the link, Glen Hiller was sacked from his job the day after he attempted to heckle President Bush at a rally. He was removed by security, even though his attempt to question Bush about the Iraq War and WMDs was drowned out by the party faithful shouting "Four More Years!"
The firing was instigated by the PR director for the local education council, who had supplied the invitiations to the rally and called the company to express their outrage over Hiller's behaviour toward the president. This fact was acknowledged by a member of stafff at Octavo Designs who would not give her name.
It will prove to be the most expensive client Octavo Designs ever had, I believe, expensive enough to take down the company.
Imagine living in a town like that.

Hey, but isn't it great that Bush is around to defend Freedom?
I'm only surprised that Mr Hiller wasn't jailed under the Patriot Act.

It's a shame that people can't even speak their minds without fear of retribution, government or otherwise!

With the US way of lawsuits and the right to free speech etc etc I do really hope that it'll cost that company very, very dearly. And, btw, I'd hope the same for a company sacking a stout republican over a similar issue the other way round!

It's been a while since the last postings on the Swift boat thing - and I apologise if I missed the link being posted before:

But I find the story an interesting read about tactics used - and the link to Disinfopedia is worth following...

This Hillier event, and the subsequent lawsuit is interesting, because it highlights another of the republican/democrat divides. I read that the majority of medical doctors in the US are republican, and conversely, the majority of trial lawyers in the US are democrat. If/when Hillier sues the company, the republicans will use it as an example of why the legal system is wrong. Bush has already stated that "tort" reform will be something he does in his next 4 years.
Tort reform (I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong) means that you put limits on how much money someone can win in a lawsuit. Another case of Bush clamping down, and telling people (juries/judges) what is the "right" thing to do.
I read an article in the economist about the swift boat veterans, and it reminded me why I stopped reading the economist. Of course it only showed the republican biased side of the story...It never mentioned the inconsitencies of the veterans testimony, but gladly went into their current claims.

Psssst! Lil!
Open containers are illegal outdoors in NYC. However, you might just get away with it if you switch to wine.

Does anyone know what's going on with this book that came out? It's called "Unfit for Command" and was put out on Aug 15 by the Swift Boat Veterans. I noticed it in Barnes & Noble because there were about 10x as many of that book as any other political book laid out (why are they allowed to do that?). Also, it's the #1 sales rank on Amazon right now.

Stay off the grass FG apparently it has only just be reseeded hence the divertion of the Michael Moore led protest.
However, some of the other protests look intersting. The AIDS suffers naked die-in really got my attention.

Well, since we're already protesting illegally, we may as well ignore the non-existent "keep of the grass" signs while we're at it.
