Congrats, hmh That's quite an achievement, and pretty good planning in this economy, as well.
dgibulli, I'm afraid I'm not up to ing much anymore, will a spritely hobble do? coming right up!
Woolly, sorry to hear about your asthma.
Um, you're not at the seven-year anniversary yet, are you, Mr. D? Might be jumping the cliche just a tad, then!

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Sep 14, 2006
Well, the thing is SC, that this particular alter-ego is a bit of a cad... I think I may have to allow him his own body to stop Mrs. D asking questions.
*Proffers his arm to Greensleeves.*
And so do dinner... *looks at the time* Confounded eddies in the space-time continuum. Champagne breakfast?

Ooh! Almost forgot, we put an offer on a house yesterday!

Ooh Well done Mr D! and Mrs D! congrangulations!
Any news on whether it's likely to be accepted. I was so tempted with my mine just to offer the asking price, but the estate agent ordered me to make an offer below the asking price - in the end I saved er, £1000 and acquired a sofa, a washing machine, two beds and a fridge as well. And for some bizarre reason a 24 piece dinner service. Me thinks they just forgot to clear some stuff out of the house they were renting out 'furnished'.

Looking forward to the updates on what's going on housewise for the Dreadfuls. If the weather I've had to go through to get to work this morning is anything like anywhere else in the country right now, you'll need to be sure the roof is watertight!

And Wooly, if you're worried about asthma go and have a word with a good practice/asthma specialist nurse. They should be better able to give you the lowdown on what would be best, rather than just grabbing the most widely available medication.

David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Sep 14, 2006
I'm so glad that the wonders of the internet allow me to be in two places at once, so that the owl can perch here in the Salon and listen to conversation, while the other half of me babysits the theology library and wonders if anyone's ever going to come in and use it.

The house is £115,000 no offers which is well within our budget, the reason why it's not been snapped up as far as I can tell is that it's in an area that has a bad reputation... although we checked local crime statistics, ASBOs, etc. and it seems that the supposedly okay area we live in now is actually worse crime-wise!

*Mutters*
This is something I have dealt with on other people *numerous* times. I know exactly what treatment is always used as a first line. Asthma nurses tend to follow guidlines and I can read guidlines just as well as they can. In fact the current asthma guidlines are open on my desktop. They're the same as the ones I learnt when I was a student taking GP finals.

Fingers-crossed for success with the house stuff, Mr Dreadful. We finally bought our first about 7 years ago. It's more work, but that results in more satisfaction at the end of the day. Because it YOUR home, your haven.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Sep 14, 2006
Fantastic news Mr Dreadful -I will keep everything crossed that the entire process is smooth, painless and everyone stays well behaved. Is there much of a chain above you? How terrifically exciting!
I'll never forget the first night in my first house - I didn't have much furniturewise so was sleeping on the floor in the living room (all the upstairs boxes had gone into my bedroom for some reason). I was too tired to unpack anything and had chinese food straight from the takeaway containers (couldn't find the box with the plates) using chopsticks bought at the time (couldn't find the cutlery). It was feeling it was all mine! Well, 5% mine and 95% the building society's but never mind...
That thing with the chinese has now become a tradition each time we move house
Z - bad news about the asthma, but please talk to someone else about it as Phil suggests, rather than just self-prescribing.

dbgibulli, Theology is the study of Theism ... seriously though, it's basically the study and discussion of religion and spirituality.
Not sure how much of a chain there is, but I know that the people we'll be getting the house from were waiting until they'd had a confirmed offer before finding another property. The estate agent is confident that we'll be in by Christmas.
The only downside to the place is that they're taking the cooker with them (not surprising considering that it's a big expensive six-burner gas thingy) so we'll be living off takeaway and stuff that can be microwaved until we can get a new one!
